Our client in Johannesburg seeks to employ a Business Development Manager in the IT / Telecommunications industry.   Main purpose of the job:         Responsible for building & developing business opportunities & revenue producing contracts for the company on backup stock & vendor based services products, includes technical support with both existing & new clients.  Main job functions & responsibilities: Assumes responsibility for building & developing new revenue opportunities for designated products & services with new & existing Resellers: ·         Manage, promotes & sells backup stock & technical support products. ·         Identify & pursue sales opportunities, makes client presentations, prospects new business relationships & obtains client contracts & relationships. ·         Focus on reseller development through enablement, training, business planning, visits & meetings. ·         Work together with sales & product manager to develop new opportunities. ·         Coordinate closely with other departments to ensure that services are delivered within scheduled deadlines. ·         Maintain a current knowledge of industry trends, opportunities, channels, products & competitors to support the identification of business development opportunities. ·         Initiate & close only those sales opportunities which profitably balance client expectations with specific benefits of Company deliverables. Assumes responsibility for ensuring professional relations with all customers & vendor: ·         Report to Vendor on key successes & lost business. ·         Attend planning meetings. ·         Ensure that customers are well informed through continual feedback & communication. ·         Promote goodwill & a positive image of the Company. Job Objective: To provide a planning/scheduling service (in accordance with contract execution procedures) to both project and corporate management for home office and external (i.e. field) activities. For allocated projects, planning and progress monitoring tools (preferably standard tools WebDMS, CMS) are in place and updated in accordance with the project cut off and reporting requirements. For allocated projects, all planning reports and deliverables are accurate and issued on time. Where necessary these are accompanied by a narrative to explain changes and movement within the program. Progress measurement is traceable between the prepress measurement system and schedule/programme. For allocated projects, the current forecast of total key quantities is maintained. Key planning and duration statistics of the project has been populated into the Project Statistics Database on an ongoing basis, both budget/original plan and actual. Claims for extension of time are developed using detailed analysis of available data, and are accompanied by schedules/programmes that definitively prove valid claims to extension of time in accordance with the contractual framework of the project. OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB: ¨ Achieving a market-related annual sales target Identifying and closing new business opportunities in the Business and Government Training markets, which involve one or a combination of the following elements of the company offering: Computer Training, Technical IT Training, Soft Skills Training, Corporate Venue Hire, and Learnerships ¨ Building and managing an individual pipeline of new business opportunities in a manner that will lead to the consistent achievement of monthly sales targets. ¨ Reporting on individual pipelines in an accurate and timely manner ¨ Customer relationship management MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS: ¨ Achieving / exceeding monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets ¨ Identifying and making telephone contact with a sufficient number of new business opportunities to build an individual pipeline that will lead to the achievement of monthly sales targets ¨ Planning an approach to these customers that addresses their business requirements ¨ Building and administrating relevant sales and client contact information ¨ Secure new business opportunities that result from telephonic sales contact ¨ Processing external and internal documentation to validate customer booking ¨ Understanding the business drivers around the customer’s IT training requirements ¨ Creating a differentiated value proposition that addresses these business drivers ¨ Presenting the value and unique selling propositions and to the customers ¨ Turning customers into repeat customers ¨ Growing the revenue stream from these customers ¨ Building broader relationships in these customers ¨ Owning these customers ¨ Manage client payment requirements and company policies ¨ Registering the company on customer supplier data bases ¨ Responding to tenders OTHER FEATURES OF THE JOB (e.g., location, travelling, shift hours, etc.): ¨ Travelling required ¨ Own reliable car required KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: ¨ One to three years’ experience in sales, accompanied by a proven track record of achievement against an individual sales target ¨ The ability to be persuasive telephonically and present a compelling reason for clients to do business with the company ¨ Business Development/Sales experience in the IT training Industry or broader IT industry will be preferable ¨ An established network of contacts - preferable ¨ Strong communication and writing skills ¨ Listening and questioning skills to influence challenging situations ¨ Excellent computing skills are essential ¨ Resilient and tenacious in character ¨ Target driven ¨ Ability to canvas EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE NECESSARY: ¨ Matric certificate or equivalent ¨ Sales training – preferable ¨ Computer literate ¨ Proficient on MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
