SEMI SKILLED DIESEL MECHANIC IN SOUTH AFRICA
The applicant needs to be able to do the following: Inspect, test and listen to defective engines / parts to diagnose malfunctions Repair the fault using existing parts where possible Replace broken parts with new and reconditioned parts Retest vehicles to ensure the problem has been repaired Keep accurate records of faults identified and repairs done to vehicles Maintain records of all parts used for invoicing purposes Conduct routine maintenance checks on vehicles according to the relevant standard operating procedure Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking the batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery Examine and adjust protective guards, loose belts, and specialised safety devices Any other duties requested by manager A minimum of 5 years working experience as a Semi Skilled Diesel Mechanic Knowledge and experience on medium to heavy haulage engines Additional knowledge in petrol engines will be an advantage Code 8 drivers license (code 14 drivers will be preferred) The applicant should be in good physical condition, an independent worker, self-motivated, be able to work under pressure and without supervision The position requires willingness to work long hours including weekends when requested
