TRADE-MARK is a non-profit organisation that connects highly skilled, reliable local painters, pavers, tilers and carpenters from previously disadvantaged areas with potential clients. Our goal is to secure additional clients for the township tradesmen that we support. We market them under the TRADE-MARK brand, connecting them directly with homeowners looking for such services. We create new opportunities for artisans who have all the skills and character to deliver an exceptional service but because of their situation they have don’t have sufficient resources to spread the word and secure ongoing business. Our existing tradesmen pay us a 15% commission for our services (only on labour costs) of any job we pass to them. We are going to be recruiting more tradesmen in the coming months so if you can say ‘YES’ to all the following selection criteria, we’d love to hear from you: • I am a specialist painter OR tiler OR paver OR carpenter and can provide a professional service • I live in Khayelitsha, Langa, Mitchells Plain, Gugulethu or anywhere else close to Philippi or can easily travel to Philippi • I am comfortable dealing with sometimes difficult clients from wealthy areas • I am on site myself, working together with my team for more than 90% of the time for all jobs • I can provide at least three (3) references from previous clients for whom I’ve worked in the last year and I am happy for you to contact them • I have my own tools or I have access to all the tools I require for my trade • I have received proper training for my trade and I can prove this • I can supply my clients with written quotes • I have my own cell phone • I have my own transport or I can find transport to get to any jobs within the Helderberg and greater Cape Town area • I have my own bank account • I have the necessary official documents / papers to legally work in South Africa Please note: if you don’t fulfil ALL of the above criteria, unfortunately you do not qualify for the recruitment process.
