The market, situated in Whynotte Park, Durban North, is driven by Hirsch’s Homestore with the support of various community businesses with the aim of upgrading Whynotte Park into a ‘Peoples’ Park. - bringing families in the area together for an evening of fun. With the support of the greater Durban North community supporting the market, vagrants no longer inhabit the park. Ensuring market goers safety on the evening of the event, Marshall Security have stepped in to sponsor 12 guards to patrol the park on market evenings. The Hirsch's I love Durban North Theatre Market features a growing number of vendors monthly and are carefully selected to ensure quality products and services to market goers.. But what sets this market apart from all the others? Says Hirsch’s MD, Richard Hirsch “The ability to bring families and friends together and make memories. This market may very well be to children what the Drive-in was to adults of today. The market is converted into a theatre, screening classic family films to the likes Annie and The Wizard of OZ. The classic Mary Poppins was screened that evening, being projected onto the large 13 by 10 meter inflatable screen, one of only two in South Africa. When they approached the Security company at the start of the monthly “I Love Durban North Theatre Market” events, Marshall did not hesitate with regards to coming on board and assistwith the security at the event. Explained Hirsch Springfield Park’s PR and Marketing Officer, Bianca Hauser “Hirsch hosts the Theatre Market, on the second Friday of every month and the community are invited to attend, shop to their hearts desire, and watch a classic movie in the evening. Marshall Security have provided a reaction vehicle at each event, with security guards who walk through the park during the evening, making sure everything is okay. The staff who are at the event always wait for the last car to leave, and help us pack away. We wanted to say thank you to Marshall Security, not only for the hard work they put into the market every month, but also for everything they do for our community.” said Hauser. Commented COE of Hirsch’s, Margaret Hirsch “Our branch in the Cape – in Milnerton - is doing extremely well, with a customer base spread throughout the Cape. Recently the Hirsch Umhlanga team headed out to Mount Moriah Education Centre to celebrate the children’s graduation. This year Hirsch's is hard at work helping to build a pre-school for 200 children at the centre, which is close to Phoenix. The Hirsch Team headed down to the temporary school which is down the road from the new school’s construction site where a little marquee has been erected. Hirsch’s kindly donated their sound system and stage facilities for the occasion. There were speeches by the teachers and the principal Ms. Zulu. Next there was a little fashion show and some dancing. Hirsch Air's Janet addressed the school and all the parents on how blessed they were to be part of the special day Hirsch Air had graciously decided to put together their hard earned cash and supply the 250 children food and beverages. Crawford Pre-Primary La Lucia donated 250 FANTASTIC packs of gifts for each child. The bags were all different and corresponded to ages 8 - 3 years old. Every year, for the last five years Hirsch’s, the biggest independently owned home appliance and electronics company in Southern Africa, has hosted a water table, and the 90th Comrades Marathon was no exception, withover 100 volunteers from the staff and their families all cheering on the runners – several of whom were Hirsch staffers - that passed the Hirsch Water Table Being a proudly South African company, Hirsch’s were excited that South African runners came out tops in the race, with Gift Kelehe winning the men's race and Caroline Wostmann winning the women's race.
