Networking is one of the most crucial skills any businessperson can have, and understanding this, Hirsch’s Boksburg offers business people in the community the opportunity to develop relationships with other entrepreneurs and potential clients, and grow their business, through their monthly held Business Networking Mornings. Hirsch’s Boksburg recently hosted their monthly Business Networking function with one of Hirsch’s own employees as Guest Speaker, The Regional Manager for Gauteng, Norman Brassell. Norman has been with Hirschs for 25 years, started out as an assistant accountant at head office and now is the Regional manager for the Gauteng stores. Norman also is an elder at his church and runs marriage courses with his wife Elize. Norman started off with a John Maxell minute where he spoke about PLAN. The P stands for Predetermine your course of action. The L, lay out your goals, the A, Allow time for adjustments and the N, Notify key person. Norman spoke about the importance of every organization having a Business Strategy. He also spoke about three key factors that every strategy should have. 1. Vision: Your vision statement should offer more of a direction and include a perspective of corporate values. A vision might provide a direction for the company for the next five to 10 years, while also noting a commitment to integrity, transparency, openness and other such values. It should inspire employees and given them a sense of purpose. 2. Unique Value Proposition: Your UVP is a clear statement that describes the benefit of your offer, how you solve your customer’s needs and what distinguishes you from the competition. 3. Pillars of Focus: Your pillars of focus should include three factors; Brand, Profit and Resources. All strategies should be reviewed on a regular basis in order for it to work. Join Hirsch’s Business Networking Mornings and grow your network to take your business to new heights. Whole Brain Thinking with Hirsch’s Networking is one of the most crucial skills any businessperson can have, and understanding this, Hirsch’s Meadowdale offers business people in the community the opportunity to develop relationships with other entrepreneurs and potential clients, and grow their business, through their monthly held Business Networking Mornings. Guest speaker at the June event, was Pepi Malamoglou who shared her expertise in Whole Brain communication and leadership to equip people to grow their own business. Pepi is an accomplished presenter and runs a successful training consultancy called Jordan Crossings, enabling people and companies to move from confusion to clarity. Pepi’s topic for the morning was; Left of right? Does it matter? According to the theory of left-brain or right-brain dominance, each side of the brain controls different types of thinking. Additionally, people are said to prefer one type of thinking over the other. “Our brains are divided into quarters; Left brain 1, which is the upper part of the brain, left brain 2, the lower part of the brain, right brain one, upper part of the brain and right brain 2, which is the lower part of the brain. L1 users are mathematical, problem solvers, technical and analytical. L2 users are planners, controlled, conservative and administrative. R1 are conceptualizing, synthesizing, imaginative and artistic people. R2 users are talkers, musical, spiritual and emotional. Understanding your personal thinking preferences will enable you to optimize your ability to adapt your thinking, decision-making or communication style to a given situation: it will also explain why it is easier to communicate with some people than it is with others. Your profile will also cast light on why some elements of your education or work seem effortless and more satisfying and why some academic subjects or hobbies are more interesting and appealing to you. However, Pepi explained that it is possible to rewire your brain by thinking differently and become whole brain thinkers. Creativity is required in order for a person or business to be successful. In saying that it means that you need to use every quarter of your brain. Join Hirsch’s Business Networking Mornings and grow your seed of greatness. HIRSCH'S I LOVE DN THEATRE MARKET - BRINGING COMMUNITIES TOGETHER IN DURBAN NORTH A wave of excitement washed over Durban North as the trendy new ‘Hirsch's I love DN – Durban North’ Theatre Market held it's third successful event. The market, situated in Whynotte Park, Durban North, is driven by Hirsch’s Homestore with the support of various community businesses with the aim of upgrading Whynotte Park into a ‘Peoples’ Park. - bringing families in the area together for an evening of fun. With the support of the greater Durban North community supporting the market, vagrants no longer inhabit the park. Ensuring market goers safety on the evening of the event, Marshall Security have stepped in to sponsor 12 guards to patrol the park on market evenings. The Hirsch's I love Durban North Theatre Market features a growing number of vendors monthly and are carefully selected to ensure quality products and services to market goers.. But what sets this market apart from all the others? Says Hirsch’s MD, Richard Hirsch “The ability to bring families and friends together and make memories. This market may very well be to children what the Drive-in was to adults of today. The market is converted into a theatre, screening classic family films to the likes Annie and The Wizard of OZ. The classic Mary Poppins was screened that evening, being projected onto the large 13 by 10 meter inflatable screen, one of only two in South Africa. We would like to thank HISENSE for sponsoring the screen and the sound system for these events."

Hirsch’s THANK YOU treat for Marshall Security Hirsch’s and Marshall Security have had a long standing, happy relationship for many years. When they approached the Security company at the start of the monthly “I Love Durban North Theatre Market” events, Marshall did not hesitate with regards to coming on board and assistwith the security at the event. Explained Hirsch Springfield Park’s PR and Marketing Officer, Bianca Hauser “Hirsch hosts the Theatre Market, on the second Friday of every month and the community are invited to attend, shop to their hearts desire, and watch a classic movie in the evening. Marshall Security have provided a reaction vehicle at each event, with security guards who walk through the park during the evening, making sure everything is okay. The staff who are at the event always wait for the last car to leave, and help us pack away. We wanted to say thank you to Marshall Security, not only for the hard work they put into the market every month, but also for everything they do for our community.” said Hauser. Hirsch approached Marshall Security recently with some smoothies, coffee and home-made cupcakes to provide a treat to the team and say thank you. “Thank you for everything you do. We feel safer knowing you are close” Hirsch Umhlanga PR & Marketing Officer, Ana Sotero commented.
