Commented Hirsch Décor’s PRO and Kapow member, Michelle Rautenbach “After the roaring success of the initial KAPOW gathering where Durban’s most esteemed Interior Decorators came together to display their amazing talents and a follow up event at Shave’s Paint, the committee voted to hold the Christmas In July gathering at Hirsch’s Décor.” KAPOW, which stands for Kwa-Zulu Natal Association for the Power Of Networking, was started by Jennifer Jones of Jennifer Jones Interiors to represent all practicing professionals related to the interior design industry. Some of its aims are to focus on networking and empowering each of their members, charity projects and mentorship of young designers and students. Key note speaker Helen Gurura, Vice-president of the international association of color consultants and designers gave a captivating talk on the psychological, emotional effects and aspects of color. Said Gurura. “Color cannot be merely prescribed for ‘color’s sale’. It should always be specified to support the function of the building and the tasks being carried out within the architectural space.”

With the support of the greater Durban North community supporting the market, vagrants no longer inhabit the park. Ensuring market goers safety on the evening of the event, Marshall Security have stepped in to sponsor 12 guards to patrol the park on market evenings. The Hirsch's I love Durban North Theatre Market features a growing number of vendors monthly and are carefully selected to ensure quality products and services to market goers.. This market may very well be to children what the Drive-in was to adults of today. The market is converted into a theatre, screening classic family films to the likes Annie and The Wizard of OZ. Hirsch’s, the biggest independently owned appliance and electronics retailer in Southern Africa have just purchased their second store in the Cape – and the twelfth branch in the country – in the Helderberg area in Somerset West. Commented COE of Hirsch’s, Margaret Hirsch “Our branch in the Cape – in Milnerton - is doing extremely well, with a customer base spread throughout the Cape.
