HEMATITE TUMBLED IN SOUTH AFRICA

It can have a red or brown color with an earthy luster; a black color with a sub-metallic luster; or a silver color with a metallic luster. Finally, its very name is a mystery. The name comes from the Greek word for blood. Thus, these stones are often called bloodstones, which is quite perplexing Until you open the stone to find that it is a blood red color inside!
