PLANT IMPROVEMENT & STOCK MANAGER (EASTERN FS) IN SOUTH AFRICA
The incumbent will primarily be responsible for ensuring the accurate counting and recording of stock, which includes some of the following duties: Coordinating the bud stock wood block (establishment, counts, certification status, harvest); Bud wood management and budding process (block planning, traceability, quality control, orders, reconciliations); Rootstock management (estimations counts); Nursery stock management (managing counting teams, stock counts, grading/ certification); Allocation of orders, label printing, stock reconciliation, dispatch; Monthly growth curve measurements and other statistics; Plant improvement record keeping, registrations and reports; Virus testing sampling, GlobalGAP documentation; Staff management. The focus of the position is 80% administrative but a good understanding of production practices is needed. Requirements: A relevant tertiary qualification (preferably a Diploma in Horticulture or similar); Strong management ability with prior experience in a wholesale nursery production environment; Excellent administration skills with full computer literacy (specifically strong Excel skills); A thorough understanding of nursery production practices; Strong communication ability; Able to communicate in seSotho. A basic salary in the region of R to R per month is offered, depending on experience and qualifications.
