BOSUN / FISHERMAN GRADE 4 REF: IN SOUTH AFRICA

Maritime company in need of a Bosun to provide a safe deck operation with good stock maintenance of all fishing gear, and monitor and ensure a safe bridge watch. RESPONSIBILITIES: ·         Ensure a safe effective bridge watch; ·         Ensure all fishing gear is safely stowed and operational at all times; ·         Ensure all deck staff is wearing relevant PPE at all times; ·         All deck activities whilst trawling and hauling are in accordance with the applicable SOP; ·         Operates basic function of the windlass which includes letting go and heaving up an anchor; ·         Ensure a good level of stock maintenance of fishing gear; ·         Ensure a safe effective port watch. REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES: ·         Qualified Grade 4 Fisherman (Bosun); ·         Must have a wide knowledge in the use of knots, hitches, bends, whipping and splices for anchoring the vessel; ·         Must be able to work under pressure; ·         Function independently and as a team; ·         Interpersonal, good communication, computer literate and sound management skills.   If you meet our requirements, please forward your CV via email ndc @ mweb.co.za or fax to .
