This Hotel situated in the prestigious Bantry Bay is looking for a top class Wine Steward to work along side their Sommelier providing personalised wine and beverage service DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:Engaging guests in conversations about personal wine preferences, items on the food menu etc, resulting in wine recommendations, as opposed to mere order taking. This includes guided trips to the wine cellars.Liaising with the Executive Chef with regards to menu items, in order to ensure best possible wine pairing experience for guests, and communicating suggestions to other service staff. Promoting planing and organising wine tours – Stellenbosch and ConstantiaKeeping abreast of wine industry innovations, trends, new suppliers and products at all timesREQUIREMENTS:Excellent knowledge about South African wines, wine regions and vineyards, varietals, vintagesKnowledge of international winesKnowledge of bar set up and cocktails, beers, spiritsKnowledge of cellar managementWell travelledExcellent guest relations skills and an obsession with serviceFluent in spoken and written EnglishComputer literate, including MICROS, Word, Excel, OPERA (beneficial) QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCECompletion of a formal wine qualification, preferably internationally recognized, e.g. WSET Level 3 Minimum 3 years industry related (wine service) practical experience in a 5* or similar environmentPACKAGE R% pension and 50% medical aid30 consecutive days annual leave8 days off per monthThis position is available immediately
