A silver coin ( Silver Rider?) set in piece on conglomerate with buckshot, retrieved from the wreck of the Merenstein by divers from The Atlantic Underwater Club in the early 's. The Merenstijein (aka Merenstein) was on her way the the Dutch East Indies with a mixed cargo, amongst which were coins discontinued from use in Holland in the 's, when she was wrecked off Jutten Island, Saldana bay in April . The coins were for re-use in Java and Borneo. These silver coins are very collectable world wide as they few and far between. What makes this one so unique is that it is a one of kind, set in a piece of conglomerate together with buckshot. The coin has been under the sea for the last 270 years or so, and is in good condition. It came into my hands in or at an auction held by The Atlantic Underwater Club at the then President Hotel, Sea Point. Silver Coin & Conglomerate. ditto. Buckshot, Conglomerate and Silver Coin. ditto. Conglomerate with Coin.

HD Scans of the Actual Coin Cellphone Images of the Actual Coin's Rim (Photographed under LED light) A modern strike of the important Maria Theresa silver coin. Details: The  Maria Theresa is a  silver   bullion coin  that has been used in  world trade  continuously since it was first minted in 1741. It is named after  Empress Maria Theresa, who ruled  Austria,  Hungary, and  Bohemia  from 1740 to 1780 and is depicted on the coin.  The inscription on the obverse of this coin is in Latin: "M. THERESIA D. G. R. IMP. HU. BO. REG." The Reverse reads "ARCHID. AVST. DUX BURG. CO. TYR. 1780 X". It is an abbreviation of " Maria Theresia, Dei Gratia Romanorum Imperatrix, Hungariae Bohemiaeque Regina, Archidux Austriae, Dux Burgundiae, Comes Tyrolis. 1780 X ", which means, "Maria Theresa, by the grace of God, Empress of the Romans, Queen of Hungary and Bohemia, Archduchess of Austria, Duchess of Burgundy, Countess of Tyrol. 1780". The "X" is actually a  saltire  or  Burgundian cross, and was added in 1750 indicating the new debased standard of the thaler. Around the rim of the coin is the motto of her reign: "Justitia et Clementia", meaning "Justice and Clemency". Specifications: The thaler is 39.5–41 mm (1.56–1.61 in) in diameter and 2.5 mm (0.098 in) thick, weighs 28.0668 grams (0.99003 oz) and contains 23.386 grams (0.752  troy ounces) of fine silver. It has a silver content of.833 and a copper content of.166 of its total  millesimal fineness.  Classification of the Actual Coin: Leypold convention classification:  III, C-e Mint signature  S.F.: Schoebl-Faby. This is the original sianature used by the Guenzburg mint. After the Guenzburg mint was closed, this signature was used by the mints in Mila, Venice, and later Vienna.
