Condition As Per Photos.QSA MEDAL WITH 2 CLASPS TO A BEARER IN THE NATAL VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE CORPS J McCallum enlisted with the Natal Volunteer Ambulance Corps, as bearer, on the 23rd of December 1899 serving through the battles of Tugela Heights, and the Relief of Ladysmith. Confirmed on Roll. The medal does appear to the thinner towards the base of the medal. I have included a photo comparing it to another medal (SEE BELOW) Notation in the left margin of the roll does indicate that the medal was issued in June of 1905. The naming does appear official. The naming has rub marks 26541 Farrier Jas Jos Lagorie SALH died in hospital at Kroonstad on 24 December 1901. An interesting QSA / WW1 medal group correctly named to 21899 Tpr. A.S.C.Hartigan - 106th Coy, Imp:Yeo. The BWM is named to 8/ Sgt A.S.C.Hartigan - S.A.N.L.C. His records show (also included) that he was not due a Victory medal as part of the SANLC - see picture below. However it seems he may have been due a Victory medal as part of the SA Expeditionery Forces - I have not checked dates of validity so the successful bidder can do some more research on this one. All three clasps on the QSA confirmed (CC /OFS / Tvl). Court mounted for display. Research does not form part of this sale but can be purchased at R150.00. Here he seems due for a Victory medal??.
