Introduction For someone just starting out in the art of bonsai, but who does not wish to compromise on quality this collection is ideal. Introduction If you are just starting out with bonsai and need the basic tools to get started then you might wish to consider our Enthusiast Tool Set. Similar to our Novice Tool Set the Enthusiast Tool Set is a little of an upgrade and includes additional tools which will allow you to perform more techniques including repotting. Whats included? This is a specialist tool for bonsai artists, and specifically those who have junipers in their collection. When you are working on the live veins of your junipers you need to be able to lift the old, faded bark. You need to do so carefully or you will damage the live cambium beneath. Although this will heal it does not look very nice when the cambium is nicked as it is a very light cream colour, and when you oil the live vein to bring out the red colors, these nicks become glaringly obvious. This simple but ingenious tool enables you to get beneath the old bark, lift it and peel it away without damaging the live tissue beneath. On the other end is a tool which is much sharper and allows you to perform delicate carving work on jin's using a pulling action; like a scraper. The sharp cutting end may also be used to clean out rotted wood from old cuts or on collected trees, before sealing. This jin tool is part of our Japanese made Kikuwa bonsai tool range. After investing in some good quality tools, looking after them will further ensure that you will have many years of good use out of them. A tool roll is the ideal way to preserve your tools and also to transport your bonsai tools to and from workshops, club meetings, demonstrations and more. These tool rolls have been made with very tough and hardwearing, washable cotton fabric. The flaps prevent the tools from falling out of the roll and also protect the tips of tools such as bonsai trimming scissors and jin chisels. Many people use tool boxes or tool caddies. The problem with these is that it is very easy for tools to get damaged from rubbing up to one another, and your hand can pick up serious injury as you go fishing through the tools trying to find the one you need. The tool roll is rolled up from the left and the ropes provided are then loosely tucked in to prevent the roll from opening up once again, until the tools are needed. Trimming scissors perform a more specialist role in that they permit work inside the canopy of a tree or inside foliage pads where twigs or unwanted growth must be removed. The key difference between a pair of normal scissors and these trimming scissors lies in the shape. These mini sized bonsai scissors are designed ideally for use on small trees such as mame and shohin. Normal scissors often become cumbersome when working on smaller trees and they may in fact damage twigs and branches if extreme care is not taken. Although small in size these mini sized scissors do not sacrifice comfort of handling in any way. Their handles are carefully crafted so holding them is much easier than you might imagine. The blade length is 40mm. As with all our Kaneshin tools, these mini bonsai scissors are handmade by highly skilled Japanese craftsmen. Each tool is boxed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
