My client a well-known company requires a qualified Bosun (Fisherman Grade 4) to join their crew. The successful candidate will provide and monitor a safe deck operation and bridge watch, together with good stock maintenance of all fishing gear. Requirements: Matric Qualified Grade 4 Fisherman (Bosun) Valid Ancillary Certificates Knowledge in the use of knots, hitches, bends, whipping and splices for anchoring the vessel. Ability to apply practical seamanship skills in operations. Trawling, mooring and anchoring Able to lead the deck ratings team in executing their tasks according to SOP’s Strong leadership and supervisory skills. Interpersonal communication management and computer skills Ability to work under pressure and function independently and within a team. Duties: Ensuring all deck staff is wearing relevant PPE at all times All deck activities whilst trawling and hauling are in accordance with the applicable SOP Operating the basic function of the windlass which includes letting go and heaving up an anchor.
