  Rare Second World War Pocket Bible Rare New Testament pocket Bible in attractive wooden cover given to SA troops in North Africa with a message of thanks and encouragement signed jointly by Prime Minister General Jan Smuts and his wife, Isie Smuts. The Bible was given to front-line troops as a 1943 Christmas gift from the SA Gifts and Comfort fund. The Bible also contains a signed message dated 15 September 1939 from His Majesty by the King, George VI. Considering its use, the Bible is in a remarkably good condition, although the binding on the front cover and first few pages is slightly damaged. Fogging occurs on the inside and back covers, probably due to the glue use d to attach the Smuts' message to the wooden covers. Light staining occurs on some of the front pages, although generally the rest of the Bible is clear and easily readable. The size of the Bible measures approximately 80mm x 120mm. No attempt has been made to restore the book.

Here we have on auction a REPRODUCTION or more correctly a FANTACY item as these kiko caps in Chinese/ East German "rice" or "falling rain" patt camo were (as far as I am aware) only ever made as recce copy camo items (and maybe made locally at unit level - maybe at 32 Bn tailors and/ or some SWATF units eg. 31 Bn Recce wing, SWASPES etc. as custom once-off items.  This rice patt kiko cap is newly made BUT I have used original East German cloth (re-purposed from a new unused item) -  BUT Please take note that this is NOT an original or period item! PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT AN ORIGNAL ITEM - IT IT S NEW MADE REPRODUCTION/ FANTACY ITEM! I have only made a very small batch/ number of these rice patt camo kikos and they will not all be sold (most are gifts of free "promotional" items from my side to loyal clients!) - kiko caps are and were back in the day very popular amongst any Porra and Porra influenced forces! The SA SF (Recce) did make uniform items in this rice patt camo as part of their Recce copy camo items which were used as part of their kit when operating behind enemy lines deep into Angola etc. as part of their tactics as false flags/ psuedo ops or jsut to buy time when spotted to create doubt amongst enemy forces etc. Please see the photos for confirmation of the item's condition and further details.
