Nazi Germany, Deutsche, Reichsbank building, Gold Plated bar Edition Technical Specs Presentation Country:   Metal Purity:    Gold Plated, Gilded Box:   Year of Issue:   Weight:   1 oz CoA:   Face Value:   Dimensions:   44x 28¿mm     Quality:       Mintage:     New bar with capsule Gold plated gift bar with images of Iron Cross and Reichsbank building in Berlin. Reichsbank was founded in 1876 as a central bank of German Empire, then later Weimar Republic and at last the Third Reich. Reichsbank was abolished after the World War II. Its functions were assumed by newly founded banks of Eastern Germany and Western Germany. The building of Reichsbank depicted on the bar was not the only one; in the age of the Third Reich the Reichsbank was complemented by a larger building in another place. The gold reserves of the Reichsbank in Nazi period were raised mainly by the theft of the property of invaded countries and prisoners of concentration camps. Great amount of wedding rings and golden teeth of victims of fascist regime were melted down as bullion. Golden teeth of prisoners were found in the vaults of the Reichsbank in 1945 after the WWII ended. The bar approximate dimensions are 44x28 mm. It¿s valuable as a collection item. ____________________________________________________  Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

Growing up on the wrong side of the tracks in post-war Johannesburg, Carnie Matisonn learns of a great-uncle in occupied Norway murdered by Nazi soldiers as they looted his prized art collection. He starts a lifelong quest to retrieve the art that takes him into the murky waters of apartheid sanctions-busting, Mossad agents, international art dealers and Nazi hunters. Matisonn's enthralling story – told here with journalist Charles Cilliers – embraces courage, wit and wisdom as he shows one man can achieve the impossible.

This item is sold brand new. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 11 working days Just a week after the Kristallnacht terror in , young Luzie Hatch, a German Jew, fled Berlin to resettle in New York. Her rescuer was an American-born cousin and industrialist, Arnold Hatch. Arnold spoke no German, so Luzie quickly became translator, intermediary, and advocate for family left behind. Soon an unending stream of desperate requests from German relatives made their way to Arnold's desk. Luzie Hatch had faithfully preserved her letters both to and from far-flung relatives during the World War II era as well as copies of letters written on their behalf. This extraordinary collection, now housed at the American Jewish Committee Archives, serves as the framework for "Exit Berlin." Charlotte R. Bonelli offers a vantage point rich with historical context, from biographical information about the correspondents to background on U.S. immigration laws, conditions at the Vichy internment camps, refuge in Shanghai, and many other topics, thus transforming the letters into a riveting narrative. Arnold's letters reveal an unfamiliar side of Holocaust history. His are the responses of an "average" American Jew, struggling to keep his own business afloat while also assisting dozens of relatives trapped abroad--most of whom he had never met and whose deathly situation he could not fully comprehend. This book contributes importantly to historical understanding while also uncovering the dramatic story of one besieged family confronting unimaginable evil. Features Summary The agonizing correspondence between Jewish family members ensnared in the Nazi grip and their American relatives Author Charlotte R Bonelli (Author), Natascha Bodemann (Translator), Deborah E Lipstadt (Foreword by) Publisher Yale University Press Release date Pages 320 ISBN ISBN
