This selection is unique for its weeping habit, similar to that of the A. palmatum dissectums. The main stem should be staked to the desired height when young. The pendulous branches will cascade down, creating a graceful mound. Leaves are cut to the centre and finely divided, giving a lacy appearance. Autumn tones are brilliant yellow, orange, and crimson. Green Cascade makes a beautiful bonsai specimen.   Japanese cedar is a tall, cone shaped evergreen with bluish green foliage and a massive trunk with thick reddish brown bark that shreds and peels in long strips. This is a fast growing tree that, in its native habitat, can get more than 180 feet tall with a trunk diameter exceeding 12 feet. Ornamental specimens are rarely more than 60 feet tall. The branches are arranged in horizontal tiers, ascending at first, then drooping near their ends. The flattened, wedge-shaped leaves are about 1/2 inch long and point forward, while their bases clasp the twigs. The leaves are overlapping and crowded in 5 ranks that spiral around and completely cloak the twigs. Male and female cones, 1 inch or less in length, are on the same tree. Two varieties are recognized: var. japonica has a dense habit and thick, spreading branches; var. sinensis has a looser habit and slender, drooping branches. A fantastic bonsai specimen. For your consideration is this beautiful Vintage Porcelain Japanese Hand Painted  Dragonware Moriage Tea Service. The set is very impressive having a 3-D effect with raised areas and gold gilded rims and dragons wrapped around them.  It sports a red, white, brown and green dragon in flight with a cloudy blue background and fireballs all around. Dragonware is the term used to describe porcelain or pottery items with a raised decoration which depicts an oriental dragon. These items were produced in Japan from the end of the 1890’s until the mid 1950’s. Most Dragonware pieces are decorated with moriage, which is a type of slip clay that gives the piece a three dimensional appearance.  White dragons are the major raised decorations on the moriage called dragonware.   There is some wear of the gold on the rims, and wear commensurate of age.  As can be seen from 1 of the photographs, there is damage to the lid of the tea pot.  This is not visible when place on the tea pot. The tea pot measures 21cms to the top of the lid, and 20cms  from the spout to the handle.  It weighs 427 grams. The creamer is 11,5cms to the spout and 11,5cms from spout to handle.  It weighs 117 grams. The sugar bowl measures 12cms to the top of the lid, and 14cms from handle to handle.  It weighs 194 grams. Acer palmatum Suminagashi Seeds Japanese Maple 'Hogyoku' Owing to its striking autumn colour of bright pumpkin orange, this Japanese Maple cultivar is often referred to as "Jewel of Fall". This is a great landscape specimen with an upright, compact growing habit, attractive summer green foliage, stunning autumn colours and beautiful pale bark. This variety is hardy -20°Celsius and can grow to a mature height of approximately 4.5 meters. It responds well to pruning and is also suitable for container growing or bonsai culture. Maples are unrivalled for their autumn foliage colouring and variety of leaf shapes and textures. Maples are a very popular choice for the art of bonsai and many are compact enough for the average garden. Their flowers are green, yellow, orange or red and though individually small, the effect of an entire tree in flower can be striking in several species. Bark is another feature of some maples, although usually smooth grey or greenish, in the group known as the ‘snake bark maples’ it has longitudinal grey or red-brown stripes and in others it is flaky or papery. Most of the approximate 129 species come from East Asia, particularly China, where over 80 species can be found, Japan, with more than 20 species, and the eastern Himalayas. Most species are deciduous, but a few in southern Asia and the Mediterranean region are evergreen. Most maples prefer a cool, moist climate with ample rainfall in spring and summer. A planting position sheltered from strong winds suits them best. For best autumn colour, grow them in a neutral to acid soil. Propagation is generally from seed but grafting is also an option. Seed germination is aided by stratification. The bid amount is for 1 Seed Growing Instructions + a FREE Bonsai eBook will be sent to your email. Prunus serrulata  Bonsai Seeds Prunus serrulata or Japanese Flowering Cherry is a species of cherry, native to Japan, Korea and China. It is a small deciduous tree with a short single trunk and dense crown reaching a height of about 4.5m to 7.5m. The leaves are arranged alternately, simple, ovate to lanceolate, 5 inches long with a short petiole and a serrate or doubly serrate margin. At the end of autumn, the green leaves turn yellow, red or crimson. The flowers are produced in racemose clusters of two to five together at nodes on short spurs in spring at the same time as the new leaves appear. Flowers come in single, semi-double or double form and may be fragrant or non-fragrant. The fruit is a globose black pea-sized drupe appearing in late summer. The Japanese Flowering Cherry Tree, which only blooms for a very short time in the spring, is sometimes called Sakura ("tree on which god sits") and symbolizes spring, life and beauty. The Japanese consider these trees very special. The cherry blossom came to Japan when a Japanese goddess named Konohanasakuyahime planted one atop Mt. Fuji. In 1912, Tokyo gave many such trees as a gift to the United States. We can find many of these trees around the Jefferson memorial in Washington D.C., where an annual Cherry Blossom Festival is held every year since 1935. After World War II, many of the trees in Japan began to die so we donated pieces of our trees to help save the population in Japan. On offer is a pack of 5 Seeds

Zelkova serrata  Bonsai Seeds Zelkova serrata commonly known as Japanese zelkova is a deciduous tree that grows to 15-18m in height. This attractive tree has a vase shaped form when young and a rounded umbrella-like habit when mature. Older trees grown in the open can have a very wide and majestic canopy. The bark is smooth and light grey, with prominent raised lenticels (small wart like corky swellings that allow for the passage of oxygen and carbon dioxide). The bark peels to reveal orange patches. The leaves are alternate, somewhat rough on top, oblong-ovate, 2.5-5cm long but can be up to 12.5cm long on some fast growing shoots. They have tapering tips, prominent veins and marginal teeth. The foliage usually puts on a showy display in fall when the leaves turn yellow then orange or red before dropping. The flowers are small and insignificant. The fruits are green rounded dry nutlike drupes about 0.625cm across. Zelkova serrata is native to Japan, Taiwan and southern Korea. This tree is often used in American and European landscapes. Japanese zelkova is adaptable to a wide range of site and soil conditions. It grows in alkaline to acidic soils; is wind and drought tolerant; and endures urban air pollution. It is susceptible to Dutch elm disease, but the elm bark beetle which spreads the disease rarely feeds on zelkova so infection is rare. Light: Full sun to partial shade. Moisture: established trees are fairly drought tolerant, but the finest specimens are grown with regular watering. Hardiness: USDA Zones 5 - 9. Zelkova is decidedly elmlike in shape and is often used as a replacement for American elm where the latter has died out due to Dutch elm disease. This is a handsome street tree or specimen for a park or large garden. They are valued for their stately wide-spreading canopy and excellent fall colour. There are smaller cultivars available for smaller gardens. Japanese zelkova is an important timber tree in Japan, where its close-grained high quality wood is used to make fine furniture. With its small leaves, pretty exfoliating grey and orange bark, and handsome fall colour, Japanese zelkova is a favourite subject for bonsai. On offer is a pack of 10 Seeds

Sophora japonica  Bonsai Seeds Sophora japonica commonly known as Japanese Pagoda Tree is native to China and Korea, but not Japan. It is a medium to large deciduous tree that typically matures to 15 to 22 meters tall with a broad rounded crown. It is generally cultivated for its attractive compound foliage and fragrant late summer flowers. Pinnate leaves 25cm, each with 7-17 oval, lustrous, dark green leaflets, remain attractive throughout the growing season. Leaves retain green colour late into autumn. Small, fragrant, pea-like, creamy white flowers (each 1.5cm long) bloom in late summer in sweeping terminal panicles to 30cm long and to 30cm wide. Flowers fall to the ground around the tree after bloom covering the ground with a blanket of white. Flowers give way to slender, 1- to 6-seeded, knobby, bean-like pods (to 7.5-20cm long) that mature to brown in autumn and persist into winter. Although not native to Japan, the specific epithet and common name seem to recognize the early use of the tree in Japan around Buddhist temples. This tree is also commonly known as Chinese scholar tree. On offer is a pack of 10 Seeds

Taxus cuspidata capitata  Bonsai Seeds Taxus cuspidata capitata commonly known as Japanese Yew is a broad-columnar needled evergreen tree or multi-stemmed shrub that is native to Korea, China, Russia and Japan. In its native habitat, it will grow to as much as 9-15m tall. Cultivated plants will grow much smaller, particularly if regularly pruned. This is what makes it such a popular bonsai subject. It features linear, spiny-tipped, dark green needles. Leaves are often tinged yellow beneath. Foliage may turn reddish-brown or yellow in winter. Scaly, reddish brown bark. Although classified as a conifer, female yews (plants are dioecious) do not produce cones, but instead produce red, ornamentally-attractive, berry-like fruits, each having a single seed almost completely surrounded by a fleshy red aril. ‘Capitata’ is very similar to the species except that its form is more pyramidal. Female plants may produce abundant fruit that is attractive to birds. Specific epithet is in reference to the cuspidate (having a sharp pointed tip) foliage. On offer is a pack of 5 Seeds
