This Christmas Ale is a unique collaboration beer, the brainchild of League of Beers, brewed specially by Wild Beast and Eat.Art. Christmas beers range from light and crisp (for Southern Hemisphere climates) to massive and heavy (for Northern Hemisphere craft beer drinkers). This beer has a light, approachable mouthfeel despite the big, spicy flavours on the nose and palate. Opaque dark red in colour Mild off-white head The nose has notes of chilli, smokiness, clove, aniseed, nutmeg and cinnamon, which carries into the flavour with hints of caramel and toffee Rob Heyns' Mixed Case Tasting Notes: December - The basic idea with festive beers is that they are heavy and spiced to taste like a Christmas cake. With the addition of some spices from Eat.Art, the final creation combines chilli, smokiness, caramel malt, clove, aniseed, and an array of other spices hidden in the mix.

The Emerald Vale farm, home to the Emerald Vale Brewery, is situated in the rolling hills between the Chintsa and Chefani Rivers on the Eastern Cape Wild Coast. Emerald Vale use rain water, South African Malt, Belgium yeast and a variety of imported and locally produced hops to create four basic Chintsa Ales. Made in 500 litre batches, Chintsa beers are not filtered or pasteurised. Although known as a Gold Ale, the Chintsa Gold Ale is actually a pale ale Golden in colour Made with Pale Malt and 3% Dark Malt, it has medium body Deep hop and malt flavours Rob Heyns' Mixed Case Tasting Notes: August - We had a great response to Chinsta Pale Ale, with plenty of recommendations. The second beer to feature from this popular little spot on the Wild Coast is the Gold Ale, which is ever so slightly more bitter than the Pale with a bit more body.

A rich, smooth and well balanced beer, the London Pride has a distinctive malty base which is complemented by a developed hop character, from adding Target, Challenger and Northdown varieties to the brew. Slightly hazy mahogany in colour Off-white head with good lacing Faintly sweet aroma, with flavours of dark malt, caramel and hops on the palate Rob Heyns' Mixed Case Tasting Notes: May - Beer for the Working Man - A massively popular drink in the UK, a great way to end a hard working day with a visit to the pub, and another debut to the League of Beers. That was a small mouthful, much like this beer, it is nicely bitter to balance the sweet malt that is lightly toasty. It is a light beer and I am going to be so bold as to say that it is slightly hop forward with an earthy/citrus subtlety and lingering bitterness.
