These are in wonderful unread condition. The slight discolouration you see is the natural aging tone to the calf skin vellum.   34 volumes, octavo. Original full vellum with 22-carat gold blocking, including titles to spines, armorial device to front boards and ruling to spines and front boards, gilt edges, marbled end-papers, printed on Archive Long-Life Text Paper. Illustrations throughout. Each book has it's own green sleeve. Typical natural variation to the tone of the vellum bindings but overall a bright set. The first collected works of Sir Winston Churchill. The Centenary Edition is the only full collected works of Winston Churchill, reproducing his 50 books in 34 volumes. The Library of Imperial History went bankrupt before the projected run of 3,000 sets could be completed, so "the print run never exceeded 2,000 copies and only 1,750 sets were ever published ". five million words in 19,000 pages,. Be the only owner in SA to own this beautiful set. Double value in 10 years. Great investment.

This item is sold brand new. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 15 working days TCG is proud to conclude the centennial year of Thornton Wilder's birth with the publication of Volume Two of his collected short plays. Thornton Wilder -- winner of three Pulitzer Prizes (one for fiction; two for drama) -- was not only one of America's greatest men-of-letters, but one of the most popular and most enjoyed. In addition to such highly regarded and popular novels as The Bridge of San Luis Rey and The Ides of March, he was one of our most successful playwrights. To this day, Our Town, The Matchmaker, and The Skin of Our Teeth remain among the best-loved and most-produced plays in the canon. To many contemporary playwrights, Wilder is -- together with Gertrude Stein, whom he championed -- the font of experimental drama in America. The diversity of form in his best-known works proves his mastery. Though his full-length works were few, he is widely perceived as one of this century's major American dramatists. Features Summary Volume Two of the collected short plays by one of the greatest American playwrights of the 20th century. Now available once more here is the author's long out-of-print first collection of one-acts... Author Thornton Wilder (Author), A.  First edition published by Klerksdorp Record in 1939. 262pp. Book is in fine condition. Dust jacket is in poor condition as the spine has suffered some loss and has tears. Herman Guest succeeded his father, Herbert Guest, as proprietor and editor of The Klerksdorp Record. Both were former Mayors of Klerksdorp. Guest Sr. wrote and published books in Klerksdorp about the Boer War while the town was practically in a state of siege. His works include 'With Lord Methuen and the First Division, 'Vicissitudes of a Transvaal Dorp, & Incidents in the Western Transvaal'. Guest Jr. was a dedicated historian and researcher of Klerksdorp's history. He completed this manuscript shortly before his death in June 1939 and it was published without any modification or amendment.
