Summer is here!!! I am looking for people who are keen to join in and get on the water during the week/weekends for some social sailing on my catamaran moored in Table Bay. Some experience would be helpful, but the desire to be out there is more important. I would also like to get away to Langebaan, Hout Bay, Simonstown for a few days at a time. The yacht is in great condition and lying in Richards Bay. All the sails are on easy furling systems for effortless deployment and packing away. she has a beautifully appointed interior and lots of stunning stainless steel work

The Hobie 16: ISAF International Class Hobie 16 (H16) is a popular catamaran manufactured by the Hobie Cat Company for racing and day sailing. The craft was the driving force behind the popularization of beachcats and was recently inducted into the Sailing Hall Of Fame. Introduced in 1971,[1] the Hobie 16 is the second largest boat fleet in existence with over 135,000 boats built to date.[4] The boat is distinctly recognized for its asymmetric "banana" shaped hulls, designed to work without the need for daggerboards so the catamaran could be run up the beach without worry. The rudders kick up automatically by lifting up on the tiller crossbar.

My Elf 26 catamaran is for sale again at a very good price. It is situated at Grootdraai Dam close to Standerton. The boat is an open deck catamaran and about 30 years old. The sails are still very strong. There are two foresails, one main and a spinnaker. An option to buy a roller furling with good sail for R5000 exists. There is also a 9.9hp Tohatsu outboard engine that has less than 10 hours on the clock. (Not even a full tank petrol was used because there is always wind on Grootdraai) The price for the motor is R18 000. The boat was partly dismantled due to a time wasting false offer to buy the boat and to take it to Western Cape. If the new owner wants to keep it at Grootdraai the boat will be reassembled there. If the boat is transported to a new venue full instructions and help will be offered to reassemble the boat there. The two hulls are currently mounted on the launching trailer that is very heavy but convenient if the new owner prefers to take the boat on the dry. It can also be cut to use as cradles to keep the hulls on and then be transported to the new address on a normal flat deck 6+m trailer. The trailer can easily be reassembled again. She is in need of a clean up and a bit of tlc. The yacht was recently sailing in Mozambique and broke a mast and carrier. This Wharram Catamaran is a lovely coastal cruiser and island hopper and only pulls 600mm draft. On her last trip coming back from Mozambique she clocked 14kts under jury rig.She has had a good upgrade regarding her hull binding and now boasts UV proof carriers and lashed with Dyneema. These boats normaly sell used for around R24000 to R29000 The Prindle cats, 18-ft designs, were remarkable for their resistance to "pearling" (in surfer parlance) or "pitch poling" (in sailing vernacular). The Prindles, with more forward buoyancy, resist this tendency, allowing more forward weight balance in heavier air (wind speed), although Prindles are still capable of pitch-poling given the right combination of forward weight, wind and sea conditions. Although out of production, used asymmetrical hulled 18s are rare.
