My Elf 26 catamaran is for sale again at a very good price. It is situated at Grootdraai Dam close to Standerton. The boat is an open deck catamaran and about 30 years old. The sails are still very strong. There are two foresails, one main and a spinnaker. An option to buy a roller furling with good sail for R5000 exists. There is also a 9.9hp Tohatsu outboard engine that has less than 10 hours on the clock. (Not even a full tank petrol was used because there is always wind on Grootdraai) The price for the motor is R18 000. The boat was partly dismantled due to a time wasting false offer to buy the boat and to take it to Western Cape. If the new owner wants to keep it at Grootdraai the boat will be reassembled there. If the boat is transported to a new venue full instructions and help will be offered to reassemble the boat there. The two hulls are currently mounted on the launching trailer that is very heavy but convenient if the new owner prefers to take the boat on the dry. It can also be cut to use as cradles to keep the hulls on and then be transported to the new address on a normal flat deck 6+m trailer. The trailer can easily be reassembled again. The Prindles, with more forward buoyancy, resist this tendency, allowing more forward weight balance in heavier air (wind speed), although Prindles are still capable of pitch-poling given the right combination of forward weight, wind and sea conditions. Although out of production, used asymmetrical hulled 18s are rare.

The Yacht is now in Durban Harbour, The boat is registered both in SA in a CC, and in Mozambique in a company, that company has a full charter license and is a registered company, after 15 years we are moving back to SA. She is also registered in Mozambique, legally and has those papers as well, so she could easily be taken there permanently, and operates without restriction. This is worth another R 300k, which has been paid and has all supporting documentation from Customs. The boat is in excellent condition. She could do a world cruise tomorrow morning or maybe next week after the service is completed. 2. There are 2 winches on the coach roof which all leads lead back to the cockpit. 3. Heads are all electric, salt water flushing. The tanks are grey, I think, not 100% on the terminology here. 4. In terms of the sea handling, she is a modern design and does not “slap” like older yachts do and designed by the world’s best yacht architect Geoff Schonning from Australia. 5. All the electronics were upgraded with new during , auto pilot, gauges, wireless new touch screen plotter, and upgraded from analogue to digital electronics, with Chirp technology to get 3d renderings from the bottom to identify the reef or wrecks. The electronics cost R 98k to upgrade last year. 6. Alternators are 100 amp alternators, however I just spent R 30k on new high powered solar panels and replaced the house and start batteries. 7. Sails in excellent condition. 8. Standard Rigging has been replaced once since new. 9. The boat is registered in my name personally, and at this moment is out of the water for a few days replacing all the anodes, props seals, and having a full buff and antifoul, should be back in a week or so. She is having a full service, motors, antifoul, anodes, prop seals, motor service, fridges getting new compressors, and little touch ups here and there on the gel coat. Her new signage goes on this week, so she will get a new SAMSA inspection next week and be back on the water. I was completed 1 year ago and was built by Hart Craft in Gonubie, East London, 8.4M long and 2.7M wide at the console, Fitted with 2 YAMAHA 130Hp 2 stroke engines which have only done 14 Hours. The boat is seaworthy and is certified to carry 6 crew including the skipper, It has a bouyancy certificate and the trailer is a 3 axle custom unit with a winch and is licensed. The boat is fitted with a fish finder and a 2 way radio.
