Der geplante Bau einer Umgehungsstrasse durch ein zauberhaftes Flusstal und eine Naturschutzzone erregt die Buerger - und die militante Oekoszene. Waehrend sich Dora Wexford den Protesten anschliesst, wahrt ihr Mann, Chief Inspector Wexford, eher Distanz.
