SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER IN SOUTH AFRICA

Reporting to the CSR&HR Senior Manager with dotted line reporting to the CEO. This is a multi-faceted role and provides opportunity to be involved at almost every level of production. You will be directly involved with the Company’s effect on the environment, energy efficiency, resource consumption and waste production (People, Planet & Profit). You will be expected to explain your ideas and goals clearly too all team leaders and convince them to go along with your plans. You will have to have a hands-on approach. Basic duties: Develop and implement a sustainability strategy An active role in the working environment, actively participate on all committees and be responsible for all Environmental Committees Do in-house audits in line with external requirement Work closely with HR/PR/CSR Hold training meetings to educate employees about Company policies designed to limit negative environmental impacts Improve the company’s public image by showing that it truly cares about the environment and seeks to be responsible, this must become a way of life / culture for the ideal candidate Improve the bottom line by instituting practices that minimise waste and maximise efficiency Meet environmental policy, goals and objectives to ensure that the Company maintains and even exceeds productivity and profitability Provide an ongoing evaluation of the Company’s sustainable ecological outlook and other factors that affect the Company’s performance Direct contact with most of the staff involved in the production process Gather qualitative and quantitative data on all departments in order to provide reports on a monthly basis to the CEO and Team Leaders Create and manage budgets Implement training programs for employees and volunteers, and research new sustainable practices Sustainable Harvesting project with legal and agreed project outcomes in place and monitored Promote and assist with the implementation of lean manufacturing in order to achieve sustainability accreditation Experience/Qualities: Proven working experience in this field, your application must show that you have performed at least 90% of these duties 10 years’ experience in retail industry (preferential) plus international retail experience Fast learner to learn the components of the job you are unfamiliar with Work fast and accurately Work hard and apply common sense Explain and communicate complex concepts in a simple and uncomplicated manner Handle stress Friendly and even tempered individuals fit in well with colleagues Proactive Strategic and practical Interact with all levels of staff Computer literate with intermediate Word, Excel and internet skills Have a strong personality Attention to detail is vital Fully bilingual with excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate must enjoy farm living as we are situated between the picturesque Riviersonderend and Greyton in the Overberg District. The Company will assist the successful candidate with relocation and finding accommodation. Please let us know your notice period and desired salary.
