On Active Service Navy Envelope,passed and signed by censor with the scarce blue censor cachet from HM ships.  Yellow/brown marks on front and back and creased as is with these old envelopes. Union Castle Line (Jul 10 1900) South African Royal Mail Service post card (on CGH 1d postal stationery card) with attractive standard multi-coloured vignette of a Castle Liner with the ship's name R.M.S. DUNVEGAN CASTLE" printed separately as a heading. Postally used in the Cape Colony Ocean Post Office with code "H" of the "Dunvegan Castle" addressed to Germany. The ship's vignette is based on a photograph of the "Dunvegan Castle" during its trials on the river Clyde in 1896. Condition as per scan(s) which form part of the description. GENERAL SERVICE HEADDRESS BADGE, UNION OF SOUTH AFRICA ARMY, 1909 - 1919 Military badge, general service headdress badge, Union of South Africa Army, copper alloy, maker unknown, South Africa. Stamped gilded copper alloy badge of round wreath encircling the head of a springbok, around is legend in English and Afrikaans, UNION IS STRENGTH / EENDRACHT MAAKT MACHT, two hooks behind for attachment. Worn on headdress of the uniform at time of WWI, circa 1914. The badge was made in South Africa. The good quality of metal used in most of these badges indicates they were in the main made either immediately before World War I, or in the early stages when the expected duration of the war was greatly underestimated, and before the subsequent necessity of frugality in the use of materials was realised. Badges made later in the war were stamped from thinner gauge metal. Images are of the actual item/s on offer.
