Based on the evidence proving Renesmee is not an immortal child, the Volturi execute Irina for her false allegations. Aro then states he is convinced Renesmee could still pose a threat. Before a final decision is handed down, Alice and Jasper arrive to prove that Renesmee is not an immortal, after Aro reads Alice hand. Alice signals Bella to get Renesmee and Jacob to run but is captured by The Volturi, which provokes a reaction from Carlisle. Aro proceeds to decapitate him and burn Carlisle's body, to the horror of Esme and the other vampires. This triggers a battle between the allied vampires and the Volturi's forces. During this fight many are killed on both sides including Jane, Alec, Jasper, Seth, Lea, The guard, Caius, Marcus, and, finally, Aro himself. The scene abruptly cuts to show that the fight was all a vision from Alice. Realizing from Alice's vision of a possible future that a wrong decision will end in his death, Alice and Jasper also brought a half human/half vampire male showing evidence that Renesmee is of no danger to them.
