Baby African elephants spend 20 to 22 months in their mother's body before they see the light of the world. Female elephants have the longest gestation period of all mammals.

The memory of an elephant is legendary: Even after many years, it can still remember where to find waterholes, or recognise those elephants from which it was separated.

The great dramas of life take place at the water holes in the savannah. All animals have to come here to drink and many predators wait here for their opportunity to hunt, too. The Schleich waterhole can be rearranged in many ways so that you can always have new Wildlife adventures when playing.

All schleich figures are lovingly hand-painted with detailed modelling and allow children to learn as they play. The most famous species of fox is the red fox, which has a characteristic red coat.

This cute little calf will soon grow up and develop impressive horns and powerful legs like his father. But for now the rest of his herd protect him by keeping him in the centre of the group away from danger.

At a height of more than 1.8 meters and weighing in at more than a ton, bison are trully powerful mammals with curved horns. Bison live in the prairie and feed on different types of plants. The fact that they are herbivores makes no difference to their temper. Bison are known for their aggressiveness and despite their size are surprisingly agile. Bison graze mornings and evenings and doze during the day. Just like rhinos they enjoy rolling in dust or mud. Bisons live together in herds, looking out for wolves and defending the cows and calves against approaching enemies.

In the shadow of the agave, a young crocodile just hatched from the egg. As long as it is small, it will be protected by its mother from predators such as monitor lizards and birds of prey.

The Grizzly family was reworked completely and is now characterised by much more details.

Chameleons can change their colour. That is how they communicate with other chameleons or disguise themselves. Only a few other animals in the world can do this.

Laced morays can grow up to three metres in length and thus belong to the largest moray eels in the world. Only giant morays are longer with a length of up to four metres. Laced morays mainly live on the ocean floor at a depth of about four to 40 metres, where they hide in crevices, caves, or coral. Laced morays living in clear water usually have less black spots, while those in murky water have more. This serves as their camouflage. The older laced morays become, the fewer their natural enemies, which is why their black spots get smaller over time.

Why do giraffes have spots? It is hard to imagine that they would serve as camouflage for such large animals. But it is true: From afar, giraffes look like a big tree.
