Located near to the Klein River lagoon, just a few minutes walk from one of the best beaches in South Africa, (Blue Flag status) Grotto Beach is the one place people want to be when on holiday here! No driving in traffic through town to the beaches as it’s just a few minutes stroll to this huge expanse of sand & sea from our home! As soon as you set foot on this magical beach, the awesome Walker Bay stands before you (the play & breeding ground of the Southern Right Whale, inc Dolphins & other species of marine life)! The coastline stretches lazily into the distance, left to Gansbaai, the home of the Great White Shark & Hermanus town & old harbour to the right! Turning to look behind you, the most stunning range of mountains just go on & on towards Stanford along the length of the Klein River lagoon & beyond! You simply cannot be left with any other impression other than 'breath taking'! One of the best times is standing on the shoreline watching the ever changing colours on the mountains as the sun sets behind and paints its golden colours over this most beautiful place on our planet! The walk back to the house after a sight like this is just so energising and equally tranquil! Within walking distance, the OK Mart can be utilised for fresh daily baked bread! Leave the car behind & avoid the stress of queues & traffic jams in the main holidays, you can relax in the knowledge your holiday shall be based in & around this much sought after area of Hermanus! Sleeping up to 6, two of the three main sleeping areas are situated far enough from each other so you're assured privacy from other members of your party should you want that? We have a gorgeous rock pool with waterfalls surrounded by Natal wild banana trees, lavender & rosemary! Enjoy the vibe especially at night listening to the water cascading back into our illuminated pool! The mountains behind the house are quite simply awesome especially when the moon is bright! It silhouettes the towering giant of Die Mond se Kop as it sits, silent under the Southern Cross! All this part of the Fernkloof Nature Reserve. A free to enter Fynbos haven with many kilometres of hiking trails with views that are beautiful also offering stunning panoramas of Walker Bay! Danger Point, Gansbaai, Die Kelders, Grotto Beach, the Hermanus Golf Course, the suburbs of Hermanus & beyond! (We sometimes offer guided walks into the range to suit all ages & abilities, please ask if available?) We have 3 braai's (one in the front, just by the pool, one at the rear just outside the lounge & one inside the house) Our huge open plan kitchen & dining area adds to the spacious & communal gathering place feel to the house, only a few footsteps away is the stoep & pool area!
