Very scarce block. Stamps are MNH with hinge/adhesion in margin.

  BRITISH BECHUANALAND: 1885 SG1: 1/2d GREY-BLACK(WATERMARK CROWN CA) MOUNTED MINT(Paper adhesion/old hinge piece on back. Stamp is not thinned)

This is the largest known multiple of the rare ISSUE 12 S. The UHB values a coil pair of R12S at twice that of the steel blue pair - i.e. 2 x R 1,800 = R 3,600. THe block comprises 30 pairs. There are 21 pairs with no variety and 9 pairs with variety which are valued here at R 4,800 per variety.  Aggregate value for block without value of the control is therefor R 118,800.   Then the UHB values the control Ca with red cross in margin at 60% of the value for Tete-beche - R 30,000. Combined value for block with control and varieties: R 148,800. The block is MNH but for reinforcing hinges applied to rejoin the block which become separated between columns 8 and 9. One other reinforcing hinge as per scan. As per scans below.
