In Augustus 1966 klap die eerste skote by Ongulumbashe, 'n terroriste-basis wes van Oshakati in die noorde van die destydse Suidwes-Afrika. Dit was die begin van die Bosoorlog wat 23 jaar lank sou aanhou - en uiteindelik in een van die langste oorlo in Afrika ontaard. Kort na die skermutseling by Ongulumbashe is die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisie in die gebied, suid van die Angola-grens en ook in die Caprivi ontplooi om enige insypeling van SWAPO-terroriste na Suidwes-Afrika te stuit - met beswaarlik meer as 'n geweer, 'n khaki oorpak, Ford-bakkie, graaf, tente en toerusting om basiskampe mee te bou. Terselfdertyd word lede van die SAP ook in 1967 na Rhodesi (nou Zimbabwe) gestuur en word (hoofsaaklik) al langs die Zambezirivier tot teenaan die Mosambiekgrens in Masjonaland ontplooi. Ofskoon 165 polisiemanne in Suidwes-Afrika en 81 in Rhodesi dood is tydens die oorlog, fokus di boek nie drop nie, maar wel op die ervaring van die individu en sy aanpasbaarheid en ondernemingsgees te midde van ontwrigtende omstandighede, teen die agtergrond van die oorlog. Hierdie boek vertel hulle verhaal... Hardeband, 380 bladsye & 650 fotos OMTRENT DIE SKRYWER: Louis Lubbe het grensdiens in Caprivi en Rhodesi gedoen as lid van die SA Polisie se TIN-eenheid tydens die Bosoorlog. Soos die geskiedenis aanstap en die stryd om politieke mag en verandering toeneem, word die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisie telkens ingespan om enige vorm van bedreiging af te weer. Teen wil en dank word die klassieke rol van die SA Polisie en die beginsel van minimum geweld wat vir alle polisiedienste wreldwyd geld, verander om die eise van terreur die hoof te bied.
