A collaboration between South African estate Rust en Vrede and California’s Silver Oaks Cellars, Cirrus Syrah is the expression of the long-term view between two families that believe wine, above all, should bring people together. This wine was matured for 18 months in a combination of new French and American Oak barrels and is made in a typical Rhone style. Deep ruby red in colour Aroma has dark rich plum notes with a beautiful bouquet of floral jasmine, aided by an underlying mocha that creates a fantastic complex nose The rich plum fruit and mocha from the nose are prominent on the palate. The Cornerstone has always been an important wine within the Reyneke range, with the proceeds of the wine helping the farm workers and their families. This year, Lizanne the daughter of the cellar assistant, George, enrolled at University thanks to the Cornerstone Project. The grapes are farmed Biodynamically and the wine made without the use of yeasts, enzymes, added acidity or settling agents. The wine spends 18 months in French oak barrels, 20% new and 80% second and third-fill.
