BIODYNAMIC CORNERSTONE RED BLEND IN SOUTH AFRICA
The Cornerstone has always been an important wine within the Reyneke range, with the proceeds of the wine helping the farm workers and their families. This year, Lizanne the daughter of the cellar assistant, George, enrolled at University thanks to the Cornerstone Project. The grapes are farmed Biodynamically and the wine made without the use of yeasts, enzymes, added acidity or settling agents. The wine spends 18 months in French oak barrels, 20% new and 80% second and third-fill. The wine presents with red fruit nose of cassis, blackcurrant and mulberry Delicate perfumed aromas are backed with an underlying graphite line The lifted freshness of the palate is a factor of a firm natural acidity and the layered underlying fruit provides balance Bottle ageing potential of 7-10 years
