Parodia is a genus of flowering plants in the cactus family Cactaceae. The genus is named after the Argentine botanist Lorenzo Raimundo Parodi who lived from 1895 to 1966. Flowers in all species arise from fuzzy buds, typically with bristles, at the apex. Flowers are cup-shaped and point straight up. They are easy to grow, have intriguing stems and spines and flower easily with brightly-coloured flowers. This fact in combination with their relatively small size, ensure that nearly all cactus growers will have some representative of this group. While advanced hobbyists may grow many of the various species and subspecies.           The genus has about 50 species, many of which have been transferred from Eriocactus, Notocactus and Wigginsia. They are native to the uplands of Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Uruguay and range from small globose plants to 1 meter tall columnar cacti. All are deeply ribbed and spiny, with single flowers at or near the crown. Some species produce offsets at the base and most are free flowering, with stunning blooms throughout the year. These cacti are perfect for rockeries, where they will give your garden splashes of colour or as pot plants on a sunny windowsill. Either way you are assured of many years of joy. Parodia roseolutea is a solitary globular cactus from southern South America. Parodia roseolutea grows up to 25cm in circumference and is nicely spined. It produces magnificent 7.5cm flowers in late spring. They are red to pink with a yellow throat. This plant seems to incorporate some of the features of both Parodia herteri and Parodia mammulosa. Both flower colour and spination seem to be midway between the two species. The plant can ultimately reach the size of Parodia herteri but it flowers at a much smaller size and withstands some winter coldness.

Salvia apiana  Seeds Native Americans had several uses for this plant: seeds were ground into a flour and used for mush; leaves were used for flavoring in cooking; leaves were also eaten, smoked or used in a sweathouse as a remedy for colds; seeds were dropped into the eye and permitted to roll around under the eyelids in order to cleanse the eyes; and leaves were crushed and mixed with water to create a hair shampoo, dye and straightener. White sage is also used medicinally. It can be made into a tea, which decreases sweating, salivation, and mucous secretions in the sinuses, throat, and lungs. Cold tea can be a good stomach tonic, while a lukewarm tea is good for treating sore throats. The leaves can also be used as a uterine hemostatic tea for heavy menstruation; however, since it can also decrease lactation, nursing mothers are advised not to use it. White sage is considered sacred by many Native Americans since it is used to make smudge sticks, a type of incense. White sage is believed to cleanse a space of any evil spirits that may be present. This power is said to be released from the plant by the burning of the leaves, which are typically bundled into a wand or stick. Today many Native American tribes still use the stems and leaves for smudging as part of purification ceremonies. The practice has also been adopted by some modern neopagans. On offer is a pack of 10 Seeds

Gladiolus hyalinus  Seeds Gladiolus (from Latin, the diminutive of gladius, a sword) is a genus of flowering plants in the iris family (Iridaceae). Sometimes called the sword lily, the most widely-used English common name for these plants is simply gladiolus (plural gladioli or gladioluses). The genus Gladiolus contains about 260 species, of which 250 are native to sub-Saharan Africa, mostly South Africa. About 10 species are native to Eurasia. There are 160 species of Gladiolus endemic in southern Africa and 76 in tropical Africa. The fragrant flower spikes are large and one-sided. They make very good cut flowers. Gladiolus hyalinus is a wide spread species in the winter-rainfall region where it is found from Namaqualand to the southwestern Cape and in a couple of places in the southern Cape and the Eastern Cape. In the Cape Flora region it is found in transitional fynbos and in Namaqualand on granite derived sand or clay. It flowers from winter into spring depending on the elevation. Flowers are light to reddish brown on a pale cream background. There are dark spots and streaks on the throat. On offer is a pack of 10 Seeds We will supply you with all the germination & care instructions.

The Venus Fly Trap (Dionaea muscipula) is the most well-known species of carnivorous plants. These insectivorous plants lure their prey using sweet-smelling nectar. When an insect lands on the head of the fly trap, they seek the source of the nectar, and if the plant is lucky, it will touch one of the many trigger hairs located within the jaws of the trap. Once triggered, the trap snaps closed, trapping the victim. The plant then secretes an enzyme which essentially 'dissolves' the insect, turning it into a digestible dinner. After a few days, the fly trap will re-open, to await its next victim. Venus Fly Traps are quite easy to grow, as long as they are given the proper conditions.            The Venus flytrap has a rosette of leaves up to 20 cm across. Each leaf has a flat stalk and ends in a trap. The centre is often reddish, and the sides of the trap are lined with stiff, comb-like bristles that interlock when the trap closes. The flowers are white, in a cluster at the top of a cm leafless stalk. They should be grown in very bright light, but not in direct, hot sun. A warm, humid environment, with a constant supply of moisture, such as you would find in a terrarium is ideal. The potting mixture should consist of a mix of 70% Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss and 30% Horticultural Perlite. The Venus flytrap also known as Venus's flytrap or Venus' flytrap is a carnivorous plant native to subtropical wetlands on the East Coast of the United States. Dionaea is a monotypic genus closely related to the waterwheel plant and sundews, all of which belong to the family Droseraceae.  The Venus flytrap is commonly grown as a curiosity plant and is a source of wonder for children and adults alike. Indeed, it is likely that the Venus flytrap has been the source of inspiration for many a horror film involving man-eating plants – a somewhat unique “use” within the plant kingdom! Dionaea muscipula has also been shown to contain naphthoquinones that may have medicinal value. These Dionaea muscipula seeds are the product of careful hand pollination of numerous superior Venus Flytrap clones. The seed and pollen parents of these seeds include Big Mouth, Red Dragon, Red Piranha, B52, Royal Red, Czech Giant, Southwest Giant, FTS Maroon Monster, Low Giant, Jaws, Big Vigorous, Fused Tooth, Sawtooth and Holland Red. This pack consists of Mixed Giant Dionaea muscipula Forms
