OORLOGSKLOOF HIKING TRAIL, NIEWOUDTVILLE FRIDAY 2nd OCT to TUESDAY 6th OCT Join experienced hike leader, John Taylor, for a mini Fish River experience close to home – the Oorlogskloof 4 day hiking trail in the mountains and valleys near Niewoudtville (4,5hr drive from Cape Town). Stunning scenery, flowers, rock art and adventure route with cracks, ladders and chains. COST: R430/person TRANSPORT: Own vehicle or 4 spots to share petrol. New wooden huts and mattresses are provided with long drop loos. 4. 5 days with 4 nights food. Day 1 lunch at Vanrhynsdorp. Day 5 lunch at Klawer. 5. Take full rain gear - jacket and pants. These double up as track suit for cooler am/pm. We will be able to braai on at least 2 nights. Bring vacuum packed meat if you want to. I will bring very small grid and tongs. DIRECTIONS/ITINERARY: Turn off N7 at Vanrhynsdorp. Take Niewoudtville / Calvinia road. Travel to top of pass and then approx 5 km you will see the gate entrance on the Right (approx 44km from Vanrhynsdorp). Follow sandy track for 10 km to parking under trees (next to dilapidated thatch huts). FRIDAY 2 Oct: Leave Cape Town at . Arrive Oorlogskloof around 14h30. Short hike to wooden hut.
