Hardcover with dust jacket and 421 pages in good pages. R46 postage in SA.   I knew almost nothing about Stimson when I started this book, and was quite curious to learn just what the Secretary of War contributed to the effort to win WWII. But I enjoyed the first half of the book more than the part about the war. Stimson's career was quite interesting - US Attorney in NY prosecuting anti-trust cases against the sugar companies, candidate for governor of NY, Secretary of War under Taft, Secretary of State under Hoover, governor general of the Philippines, Secretary of War during World War II. Nominally written by Bundy, it is very much Stimson's autobiography. There is no bibliography, no notes. The sources are primarily Stimson's diary and papers, and of course the 18 months of discussions Bundy and Stimson had while working together on the book.

The Te Velde notes are not as famous as their Gold coin brothers simply because very little info is shared about these notes. These notes were printed right at the end of the Anglo Boer war at Pelgrim's Rust. History has it that parts of a machine were found in the bush and a press made. It is uncertain how many of these notes survived and how many were just left in the field as the war ended. This note is graded by PMG, sister company of NGC in America. Only 6 notes of this series were graded by them. Only 2 notes have graded higher! This is a piece of HISTORY......   South African Banknotes Most South African Collectors collect at least 1 banknote from each Governor of the Reserve Bank. William Morrow and Co., Inc, . Hardcover. Book Condition: Acceptable. This is a used book with no dust jacket. It is in good condition with solid binding and no marks, just the name of a previous owner and a sticker with an address is Grand Cayman. Review:This is a story of an almost vanished Africa; a world of myth and magic in which the indigenous peoples of the continent lived for uncountable centuries before the Europeans came to shatter it.The main character is a boy who has a relationship with this Africa not unlike Kipling's Kim with the antique world of India. François Joubert, whose Huguenot ancestors settled in Africa three hundred years ago, lives as a solitary child on his father's farm. 'Hunter's Drift'. Here, in the far interior of Africa, he experiences the wonder and mystery of an ageless, natural primitive life, his perception of it heightened by the influence of three people in particular - his Bushman nurse, the head herdsman of the local Matabele clan (his father's chosen partners in the pioneering of Hunter's Drift), and a hunter of legendary fame, now the chief ranger of a vast game reserve nearby.François' meeting with an untamed Bushman, Xhabbo, whose intuitive teaching nourishes his spirit; his strange pilgrimage to the distant krall of a powerful witch-doctor; his dramatic encounter and relationship with the daughter of a retired colonial governor; all are examples of African point and European counterpoint, in a highly original theme, moving to a strangely presaged and omened climax.

Game Change is a searing, behind-the-scenes look at John McCain's presidential campaign, from the decision to select Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate to the ticket's ultimate defeat in the general election just sixty days later. Told primarily through the eyes of senior McCain strategist Steve Schmidt, who originally championed Palin and later came to regret the choice, Game Change pulls back the curtain on the intense human drama surrounding the McCain team, the critical decisions made behind closed doors and how the choice was made to bring Palin on the ticket. The film examines how we choose our leaders by offering a unique glimpse into the inner workings of an historic campaign.

Tetricus I 270 - 273 AD MS - 62 Roman Bronze Antoninianus Coin, Slabbed and Graded Gaius Pius Esuvius Tetricus was Emperor of the Gallic Empire (Imperium Galliarum) from 271 to 274, following the murder of Victorinus. Tetricus, who ruled with his son, Tetricus II, was the last of the Gallic emperors following his surrender to the Roman emperor Aurelian. Regardless of his difficulties with the Germanic invasions, Tetricus was recognised as emperor throughout Britain and most of Gaul apart from Narbonensis, where Placidianus had reclaimed some territory under Claudius II Gothicus. Although Tetricus made no move to expand his territorial reach, he did invest time and resources reclaiming some provinces that had been reconquered by the central empire, such as south-eastern Aquitania and the western parts of Narbonensis. Nevertheless, his regime was destabilised by attempts of certain areas to declare their allegiance to the Roman emperor Aurelian, such as the city of Argentoratum in 272 According to literary sources, after being displayed as trophies at Aurelian's triumph in Rome, the lives of Tetricus and his son were spared by Aurelian, and Tetricus was even given the title of corrector Lucaniae et Bruttiorum, that is governor of a southern region of Italia. Tetricus died at an unknown date in Italy. He is listed as one of Rome's Thirty Tyrants in the Historia Augusta. The antoninianus was a coin used during the Roman Empire thought to have been valued at 2 denarii. It was initially silver, but was slowly debased to bronze. The coin was introduced by Caracalla in early 215 and was a silver coin similar to the denarius except that it was slightly larger and featured the emperor wearing a radiate crown, indicating that it was valued at twice as much. The reverse of the coin depicts the radiate and draped bust of Tetricus facing right, with the obverse depicting  Laetitia, the Roman Goddess of joy, standing and facing left, holding a wreath and an anchor. Reverse legend: " IMP C TETRICVS P F AVG" Obverse Legend: " LAETITIA AVGG" The coin is listed in the following major references: RIC 87 Cohen 72 Sear - 11239 INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS WELCOME
