FRONEMAN Up for this auction is an original ABO medal to Veldkornet Johannes Coenraad Froneman, an officer in the Ventersburg Kommando (close to Winburg, and perhaps a relative of genl CC Froneman of Winburg?) - there is only one JC Froneman, according to the Forsyth Medal Roll. He also recieved the DTD medal (Dekoratie vir Trouwe Dienst), a medal entitled to officers in the Boer Republican Forces. However, I have only his ABO up for auction. Dit toon hoe die SA Polisie van die vroegste tye af in die stryd om politieke mag en staatkundige veranderings vasgevang geraak het. Reeds in 1915 is die Zuid-Afrikaanse Politie (ZAP) aan die sy van genl Botha in Suidwes-Afrika. Soos die geskiedenis aanstap en die stryd om politieke mag en verandering toeneem, word die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisie telkens ingespan om enige vorm van bedreiging af te weer. Teen wil en dank word die klassieke rol van die SA Polisie en die beginsel van minimum geweld wat vir alle polisiedienste wreldwyd geld, verander om die eise van terreur die hoof te bied.
