Text in English/Afrikaans/German/French This edition has been revised and updated. It covers the 68 larger land mammals found in the 17 parks that currently fall under the jurisdiction of the National Parks Board. A concise description is given of the habitat, breeding and behaviour of each species, in English, Afrikaans, German and French. Its relevant national flag indicates each language. Three information boxes provide details of vital statistics such as mass, height, length, speed and horn length; the animal's spoor; and in which of the 17 national parks it occurs. The parks covered in the guide are: Kruger National Park, Addo Elephant National Park, Augrabies Falls National Park, Mountain Zebra National Park, Bontebok National Park, Golden Gate Highlands National Park, Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, Karoo National Park, Marakele National Park, Knysna National Lake Area, West Coast National Park, Richtersveld National Park, Tankwa Karoo National Park, Tsitsikamma National Park, Hei-!gariep National Park, Wilderness National Park and Zuurberg National Park.

Published in the 200th Anniversary year of the Battle of Waterloo a witty look at how the French still think they won, by Stephen Clarke, author of 1000 Years of Annoying the French and A Year in the Merde. Two centuries after the Battle of Waterloo, the French are still in denial. If Napoleon lost on 18 June 1815 (and that's a big 'if'), then whoever rules the universe got it wrong. As soon as the cannons stopped firing, French historians began re-writing history. The Duke of Wellington was beaten, they say, and then the Prussians jumped into the boxing ring, breaking all the rules of battle. In essence, the French cannot bear the idea that Napoleon, their greatest-ever national hero, was in any way a loser. Especially not against the traditional enemy âe" les Anglais. Stephen Clarke has studied the French version of Waterloo, as told by battle veterans, novelists, historians âe" right up to today's politicians, and he has uncovered a story of pain, patriotism and sheer perversion...

MOTORING MEMORIES OF THE BRITISH SOUTH AFRICA POLICE - Written & compiled by Barry Woan & Peter Huson This book starts with a history of the British South Africa Police (BSAP) Motor Car Club, which would never have existed if it had not been for the enthusiasm of the then Commissioner, Basil Spurling.  It was a success during its short life and by 1963 was organising an international rally. One of the Car Clubs founder members became a rally driver of international repute and won a sponsored drive in the Monte Carlo Rally.  Other members competed successfully in local and national rallies and also in motor racing events in Bulawayo and Salisbury.  We have identified as many members as we could of both the Salisbury and the Bulawayo clubs together with all the photographs we could locate. From editions of the Outpost we gleaned stories not only of the car club and its activities but also of other motoring matters relating to the Force. From these and former members contributions, plus over 350 photographs, we have put together a collection of stories, all of which have a common thread running through them a vehicle driven by an internal combustion engine.   New material includes many previously unpublished photographs, coverage of Police displays, the Queen Mary mobile canteens, a selection of vehicle advertisements from The Outpost, a look at the time when BSAP members were also Firemen and also a write-up on the BSAP Reserve Reconnaissance Unit, a body of men whose esprit-de-corps was second to none, and their Marmon-Herrington armoured cars. Second Edition, published February 2017, paperback, 350 pages.
