It is celebrated on a diocesan level annually, and at a week long international level every two to three years. The first World Youth Day was held in Rome in 1986 on Palm Sunday. Each year since, World Youth Day has been celebrated at a Diocesan level on Palm Sunday. This year's event takes place between 15th July - 20th July.
