  (W) David Walker (A) Flaviano Armentaro & Various (CA) Sanford Greene Luke and Danny have only just put the band back together - will CIVIL WAR II tear it apart? Maybe, when Iron Fist finds himself behind iron bars! But who better to get him out of a cage than Power Man? Then again, Luke's crack team of former criminals may be more of a hindrance than a help! And there's the small matter of Captain Marvel's reaction to the Inhuman Ulysses' prison-break premonition! As for the philosophical disagreement underpinning the conflict rocking the Marvel Universe, our two heroes start out on the same side - but the predictive justice vigilantes Preemptive Strike may just change that! Plus: From Civil War to peace on Earth! It's Luke's favorite holiday - but demonic toys might make this a bitter Christmas, not sweet! Collecting POWER MAN AND IRON FIST (2016) #6-9 and SWEET CHRISTMAS ANNUAL #1.

It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 11 working days This is the first book to not only select the events that most influenced the causes and outcome of America's Civil War, but also to rank them in order of significance. In each of the book's 20 detailed essays, author/historian/speaker Alan Axelrod presents an engaging narrative about the event, and also explains how the event shaped the course of the war, and ultimately the future of the country. The author's selection and ranking criteria include: Effect as cause or trigger of the war Decisiveness: whether it was a war-winning or war-losing event (both in military terms and in terms of public opinion, morale, and support) Magnitude and scope: size and cost of a battle Enduring postwar significance in American history, politics, society, culture and/or in military history and technologyFrom Lincoln's Inauguration, Antietam, and John Brown's raid, to the New York draft riots and Stonewall Jackson dying as a result of friendly fire never before has the Civil War been explored quite this way. The Civil War was a violent argument between the North and the South. The purpose of this book is to start another argument about its history. This item is sold brand new. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 15 working days During the tense months leading up to the American Civil War, the cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point continued their education even as the nation threatened to dissolve around them. Students from both the North and South struggled to understand events such as John Brown's Raid, the secession of eleven states from the Union, and the attack on Fort Sumter. By graduation day, half the class of 1862 had resigned; only twenty-eight remained, and their class motto -- "Joined in common cause" -- had been severely tested. In For Brotherhood and Duty: The Civil War History of the West Point Class of 1862, Brian R. McEnany follows the cadets from their initiation, through coursework, and on to the battlefield, focusing on twelve Union and four Confederate soldiers. Drawing heavily on primary sources, McEnany presents a fascinating chronicle of the young classmates, who became allies and enemies during the largest conflict ever undertaken on American soil. Their vivid accounts provide new perspectives not only on legendary battles such as Antietam, Gettysburg, Fredericksburg, and the Overland and Atlanta campaigns, but also on lesser-known battles such as Port Hudson, Olustee, High Bridge, and Pleasant Hills. There are countless studies of West Point and its more famous graduates, but McEnany's groundbreaking book brings to life the struggles and contributions of its graduates as junior officers and in small units. Generously illustrated with more than one hundred photographs and maps, this enthralling collective biography illuminates the war's impact on a unique group of soldiers and the institution that shaped them. This item is sold brand new. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 11 working days British and American commanders first used modern special forces in support of conventional military operations during World War II. Since then, although special ops have featured prominently in popular culture and media coverage of wars, the academic study of irregular warfare has remained as elusive as the practitioners of special operations themselves. This book is the first comprehensive study of the development, application, and value of Anglo-American commando and special forces units during the Second World War. Special forces are intensively trained, specially selected military units performing unconventional and often high-risk missions. In this book, Andrew L. Hargreaves not only describes tactics and operations but also outlines the distinctions between commandos and special forces, traces their evolution during the war, explains how the Anglo-American alliance functioned in the creation and use of these units, looks at their command and control arrangements, evaluates their impact, and assesses their cost-effectiveness. The first real impetus for the creation of British specialist formations came in the desperate summer of 1940 when, having been pushed out of Europe following defeat in France and the Low Countries, Britain began to turn to irregular forces in an effort to wrest back the strategic initiative from the enemy. The development of special forces by the United States was also a direct consequence of defeat. After Pearl Harbor, Hargreaves shows, the Americans found themselves in much the same position as Britain had been in 1940: shocked, outnumbered, and conventionally defeated, they were unable to come to grips with the enemy on a large scale. By the end of the war, a variety of these units had overcome a multitude of evolutionary hurdles and made valuable contributions to practically every theater of operation. In describing how Britain and the United States worked independently and cooperatively to invent and put into practice a fundamentally new way of waging war, this book demonstrates the two nations' flexibility, adaptability, and ability to innovate during World War II.
