Ingot 1 Oz Orthodox Shrines Icon Faith,Hope, Love and Sophia Oxidised Silver Edition Technical Specs Presentation Country:   Niue Metal Purity:    ¿Silver 0.999 Box:   Yes Year of Issue:   2014 Weight:   1 Oz CoA:   Yes Face Value:   2 dollars Dimensions:   27 x 47¿mm     Quality:   Antique-Finish     Mintage:   3,000   New ingot, presentation paper box may has some attritions Saint Sophia the Martyr (d. 137 AD) is venerated in the Eastern Orthodox Church on September 17. Born in Italy, Sophia had three daughters: Faith (age 12), Hope (age 10) and Charity (age 9), who were named after virtues mentioned by Saint Paul in 1 Corinthians 13. They are said to have been martyred during the reign of Hadrian (117-138). The guards took Sophia's daughters one by one, from the eldest to the youngest and beat and tortured them to death. Sophia buried her daughters' bodies and remained by their graves for three days until she died herself. According to tradition, in 778 part of their relics were transferred to the women's convent at Eschau in Alsace. There is a common misconception that the capital city of Bulgaria, Sofia, is named after Saint Sophia the Martyr, and so the city's holiday is on September 17. Sofia is in fact named after its ancient cathedral church of Saint Sophia, consecrated not to the early Christian martyr but to the Divine Wisdom of God (Aghia Sophia in Greek). There are several icons of St. Sophia the Martyr and her daughters in that church, though. ____________________________________________________  Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

The cathedral was built in Galicia, Spain on the burial-place of the apostle Saint James the Great in the XII century. The legend says that the tomb of the apostle who had brought Christianity to Iberian Peninsula was found right in that place. The city of Santiago de Compostela grew up around the basilica later. All four picturesque fa?ades of the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral differ from each other, the building was constantly decorated and rebuilt, still the main style of it applies to the Middle Ages. One side of the token depicts the splendid western fa?ade of the Cathedral along with Spanish name of the church meaning ¿Santiago Cathedral¿. The reverse side is dedicated to the popular pilgrimage route to the tomb of Saint James the Great. It features the words ¿Road to Santiago¿ in Spanish and a scallop image which is the symbol of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostella. In addition to the religious and metaphorical interpretations of the symbol it claims to have a quite prosaic origin of seashells often found by pilgrims on the Atlantic coast of Spain. ____________________________________________________  Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

Midwinter of the Spirit:  'Exorcism' is no longer a word favoured by the Church of England.  'Deliverance Ministry' sounds more caring, less sinister...so why not a role for a woman?  The Rev Merrily Watkins, parish priest and single mother, can hardly turn it down, even when the retiring exorcist, a serious opponent of women clergy, ensures that she's exposed to the job at its most terrifying. And the situation gets no easier.  As an early winter slices through the old city of Hereford, a body is found in the River Wye, an ancient church is desecrated, and there are even indications of evil in Hereford Cathedral itself, where the tomb of St Thomas Cantilupe lies in fragments. A Crown of Lights:  When a redundant church is bought by a young pagan couple, the local evangelical minister reacts with fury.  In an isolated community on the Welsh border, a modern witch-hunt then begins.  Diocesan deliverance consultant Merrily Watkins is expected to keep the lid on this cauldron, but what she discovers will severely test her loyalty to the church itself.  Soft cover, good condition.

Born in , Heiller was trained in Vienna and rose to prominence quickly, giving his first solo recital at the age of twenty-two. Before concentrating on the organ exclusively, he was a successful conductor of the symphonic repertoire, and from until his untimely death in , he was professor for organ at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. His interpretations of Bach, which included registration and articulation, as well as a consideration of the theological underpinnings, would change the way Bach is played. Anton Heiller: Organist, Composer, Conductor provides an assessment of Heiller's works and teaching, while also examining his complex personality, one torn between strong religious devotion and the world of artistry. Underlying this story here is also the story of church music and organ playing in central Europe in the decades after World War II, and of the then unique crossroads of organ cultures in mid-twentieth-century Europe. Peter Planyavsky was Anton Heiller's successor as an organ professor in Vienna, and Organist of St. Stephan's Cathedral in Vienna from through . He is also a prolific composer, improviser, and conductor. The book is translated from the original German by Christa Rumsey, also a former student of Heiller.
