Britain Army, Great War, WWI, Soldier, Honor, Duty, Militarty, Medal, Souvenir Edition Technical Specs Presentation Country: Metal Purity: Gold Plated, Gilded Box: Year of Issue: Weight: 1 oz CoA: Face Value: Dimensions: 40 Quality: Mintage: New token with capsule The round souvenir token plated with real gold released in memory of Great Britainメs involvement in World War I. The design of the coin refers to the tragedy of the first global military conflict. The Great War, as it was called before the war with Nazi Germany, put an end to the existence of four empires: Ottoman, German, Austro-Hungarian and Russian. The political map and social life of Europe were changed forever. Being a member of the Triple Entente, United Kingdom suffered significant losses in World War I, despite the fact the theatres of war werenメt situated on its territory. One side of the coin depicts military hardware and soldiers of the early XX century, the background is colored British flag. The Great War words are minted above the image, and the dates 1914-1918 are placed below. The inscriptions are separated with stars pattern going along the rim.The other side of the token designed to honor victims of WWI. One can see dark silhouettes of a soldier and a tomb cross. The grave is covered with red poppy flowers which symbolize the wartime remembrance in English-speaking countries. There are names of the bloodiest battles of the Great War minted on this side such as Verdun, Somme, Gallipoli, Ypres and others. ____________________________________________________ Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

Johannesburg (Gauteng)
Editors: Maurice Boucher and Nigel Penn  Series: Brenthurst Second Series No. 9 Publisher: Brenthurst Press () Edition: First Edition ISBN-10: ISBN-13: Condition: Dust jacket has slight wear to edges. Book itself is in fine condition. Binding: Hardcover with dust jacket Pages: 263 Dimensions: 30 x 24.3 x 2.9 cm +++ edited by Maurice Boucher and Nigel Penn +++ In incident and character alone, the period of the Cape history known as the 'first British occupation' ranks amongst the most colourful in South Africa's past. In the eight years from to , the colony at the Cape experienced three different regimes, pitched battle and conquest, burgher revolt and frontier war, naval mutiny and Khoikhoi rebellion.  These troubled times also produced an extraordinary crop of memorable people: Lord Macartney and General Francis Dundas, Lady Anne Barnard and John Barrow, Sir George Yonge and W.S. van Rijneveld, landdrost Maynier, Ngqika, and many more. This book is a synthesis of editorial text, documents and artworks, examining the era through eye-witness accounts, personal trade letters, government reports, contemporary maps,    A passion for books and a passion for collecting fine editions was the recipe that created the successful group of bookshops in Johannesburg called Bookdealers. The group started thirty years ago with one store in the quirky suburb of Yeoville and has grown through the years to a total of five shops, plus our online sales. Bookdealers is well-known for its collectable and used books. We also have a large variety of remaindered books sourced from around the world.  If you collect from one of our five branches there is no delivery charge. We also offer postal delivery (when available) and courier delivery, subject to a quote.

The Spirit of Britain is the first country guide to places in Britain which have inspired our greatest writers to unlock their secrets and ensure that we will never see them in the same way again. Since the ancients first couched magical stories of love and betrayal in the mythical mountains of Wales, man has sought to capture the spirit of the place that lies among the roots of our culture. 'The very geography of the land, the very nature of it's mountains and rivers, the very falling and lifting of the midst that waver over them. This, 'wrote John Cowper Powys, 'is the secret of the land. This is the secret of the people of the land.' The Spirit of Britain is a guide for the literary detective, with maps and clear roadside instructions, and a delight for the armchair reader, with extracts from the novels, poems, stories and myths, and many specially commissioned photographs.     Headline Publishing Softcover in well read but clean condition.   Buy more than 1 item and combine shipping!
