This item is sold brand new. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 8 - 13 working days Since the launch of the original Real Meal Revolution in November 2013, low-carb high-fat (LCHF) eating – otherwise known as Banting – has taken South Africa by storm. The book has sold 275,000 copies and counting, and both it and its follow-up title, Raising Superheroes, have been published internationally by the Little, Brown Book Group. The Real Meal Revolution website has seen more than two million visitors since its launch in 2014 and the company supports thousands of Banters on a monthly basis. Inevitably, a topic that has such far-reaching health implications and generates so much interest has brought with it controversy, confusion and copycats. Three years after the revolution hit South Africa, it’s time for an overview of what we’ve learnt from the original Banting revolutionaries. Having collated reams of data and overwhelming quantities of personal feedback from those who’ve embraced Banting and had their lives changed for the better as a result, the Real Meal Revolution returns to bookstores with a comprehensive, authoritative handbook on the Banting lifestyle, incorporating the latest science on LCHF eating, gut health, gluten sensitivity, fasting and more. The result is the evolution of the revolution: a streamlined, accessible, easy-to-read review of what Banting means and how to approach LCHF eating in the most effective way possible. Features Summary The Real Meal Revolution returns to bookstores with a comprehensive, authoritative handbook on the Banting lifestyle, incorporating the latest science on LCHF eating... This item is sold brand new. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 24 hours South Africa in the 1970s was a divided and increasingly traumatised country, seemingly permanently in the toils of apartheid, and with little space available for open discussion of apartheid policies or awareness of just what those policies were meaning in the lives of people. It was in this context that David Philip, a South African already involved for several years in publishing, became convinced there must be more opportunity for books with informed discussion and debate to be written and published within the country. He persuaded his wife Marie, also with publishing experience, that they could together set up their own independent publishing company, to publish 'Books that matter for Southern Africa'- in social history, politics, literature, or whatever, good of their kind and ready to challenge mainstream apartheid thinking. This is an anecdotal account - a memoir - of the lows and highs of a small, cheerful, underfunded but vibrant 'oppositional' publishing company, David Philip Publishers, from the year 1971 through to the birth of the new South Africa. Features Summary South Africa in the 1970s was a divided and increasingly traumatised country, seemingly permanently in the toils of apartheid, and with little space available for open discussion of apartheid policies or awareness of just what those policies were meaning in the lives of people. About the product 400 x 290 mm; laminated pictorial wraps; pp. xiv + 157, incl. index; profusely illustrated with contemporary photographs; map. Trace of foxing to edges. Near-fine condition."The War Reporter is an imaginary newspaper. There was no single Republican or Boer newspaper that was published on either a daily, weekly or monthly basis for the whole duration of the Anglo-Boer War. The'editor','reporters'and'correspondents'of The War Reporter never actually existed. The aim was to publish an account of the course of the war in its totality - meaning not merely the military confrontations. The format represents the way in which the war could have been reported in a pro-Boer weekly newspaper (monthly from September 1900), published in the South African Republic as the war progressed. One of the most formidable challenges that face historians is to understand the zeitgeist or atmosphere of the period they write about. The same is true for readers of history books. A failure to understand the situation at the time makes it virtually impossible to understand the major events, the decisions taken by the major participants, the reactions of the ordinary people and the contradictions of the past in the context in which they occurred. This was my biggest challenge as I attempted to portray the world and the views of the Boers as the Anglo-Boer War progressed. The book is first and foremost an attempt to answer the question: how did the Boers experience the Anglo-Boer War?"- Author's Introduction. Books: The War Reporter. The Anglo-Boer War through the eyes of the Burghers
