Boer War QSA medal with 3 bars issued to 26541 Tpr. J.J Lagorie of South African Light Horse Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1901 with documents  as per photo The SA 01 clasp was issued on 14.5.09 to his father (noted on roll 100/275 of March 9, 1903) & is added to the CC, OFS bars. The naming has rub marks 26541 Farrier Jas Jos Lagorie SALH died in hospital at Kroonstad on 24 December 1901. The casualty roll has his father's number as this was lightly entered under his correct service number on August 17, 1904 roll    

Boer War Very Rare  - Officers Campaign Field Items. 1. a MKii Leather Officers Horse Shoe Pouch with Sword Frog. 2. Leather Cased Dish/Pan with Folding Handle-Note Leather strap broken and obviously Field Repaired but parted company-Original broken thread in repair. 3. Leather cased Pot  and lid with folding handle -Made by Hobson & Sons London 1902. 4. Leather cased spirit stove with original wick and copper cup with handle made by A Barrett & Sons, (A for Andrew born in Ireland in 1819) traded from premises at 63 & 64 Piccadilly from 1878 to 1910. Baden-Powell,  by a veteran of the First Boer War of 1881.   This item is an ORIGINAL period piece,  hand written around 1900 - dedicated to praising the exploits of Col. Baden-Powell in his defence of Mafikeng by the besieging Boer forces. The author has penned multiple short poems, in which he promotes Baden-Powell as the epitome of British stoicism in the face of adversity. References are made to the Boer General Cronje, describing him in a non-flattering manner.   Baden-Powell's gallant defence of the town is noted as being worthy of the Victoria Cross as seen fit by an individual who once fought against the Boer forces 20 years prior.   A personalised and reflective item - which captures the essence of British public opinion during 1900, as the course of the conflict was unfolding.
