5km fun walk run

The CHILD WELFARE Durban & District ‘Crazy Hats 5KM Fun Walk ’, the event will take place on Sunday, 26th June .The walk will start at the North Beach Amphitheatre to Suncoast Casino Promenade and back to the Amphitheatre. It is both an awareness and fundraising venture for the organisation. The Theme is derived from our tagline, which is: Giving Childhood Back to children. Our aim is to bring back the playfulness, hopefulness and joy of children back to our community. In spite of all the Child Abuse cases that have been reported, we are that sanctuary and safe haven for our children. We will have lots of entertainment for the whole family as well as plenty of stalls where people can do some shopping.

Canal Walk will be transforming its Centre Court into a magical children’s theatre again this winter school holiday as Fred Abrahamse& Marcel Meyer present Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a beautiful and magical adaptationof the Brothers Grimm timeless classic. This fairytale has all the ingredients that make for a visual spectacular, with the combination of a beautiful princess, a charming prince, an evil queen, a magical mirror and seven adorable dwarfs all brought to life with breathtaking sets, magnificent costumes and sweet songs. This tale is sure to mesmerise even the most hyperactive of little bodies. What better opportunity to relive your childhood than to experience it with your children at this musical spectacular? This family musical will run from Saturday, 27 June to Sunday, 19 July at the Canal Walk Theatre, located at the Centre Court at Canal Walk. Tickets can be booked through Computicket at R75 each. Shows will be presented at 11am, pm and 2pm Tuesday to Sunday. Canal Walk will donate a percentage of each ticket sold, as well as the proceeds of programme sales to Stop Hunger Now. The centre will also play host to the Western Cape leg of the “Million Meal Challenge” packing event, where the goal is to pack one million meals nationally for Mandela Day. The West Coast Fun Ride will be for Quads, Bikes and Side x Sides on the 20th of June at Blomfontein, 9.5km outside Vredenburg, in the direction of Hopefield. Registrations will start at 07h30, briefing at 09h30 and the enduro starts at 10h00. The track will be divided into two different ± 40 km loops, through the surrounding farms. Not very technical, but NOT a walk in the park. Cost: R200 Rider; R100 Child (Refreshments for the riders at the halfway mark. Prize giving (lucky draw) at 14H00.
