It is very versatile, has a MM/MC Phono input and Pre-Amp out, it can be used as a dedicated Pre-Amp. The amp does have a slight crackle from time to time, I hardly notice it but it is there, the amp is otherwise in good working order and was until recently in daily use. The amp has a motor driven volume control which can be operated by the remote which is included.
