RhodesMustFall, 2019 Woodcut on Fabriano Art Paper 60cm x 80 cm In making of this artwork, the artist, Hermanus, Lwandile, has created a depiction of a chain crane removing the statue of Cecil John Rhodes. The Statue of John Rhodes was in the centre of University of Cape Town in South Africa. He decided to use Table Mountain as a background symbolising that the removal of Cecil John Rhodes was happening in Cape Town. The artwork seeks to address the removal of Cecil John Rhodes. In this artwork the sky is clear showing the removal on Cecil John Rhodes was happening during the day. In addition the removal of the statue was about the transformation at the University of Cape Town. The artwork explores the removal of black history as is it was an act of violence in contradiction of black students, workers and staff by black I refer to all people of colour. The statue of Cecil John Rhodes was therefore the normal initial point of #RhodesMustFall movement. PLEASE NOTE: Orders are ready for posting in 7 days maximum. They are shipped in a cardboard tube. This Signed Print is a true collectors item. A Limited edition Scraperboard Print on Artists canvas. The British Lions Tour to South Africa was commemorated with only 200 official prints of this beautiful piece of art. The entire British Lions team including Sir Ian Robert McGeechan signed the original artwork from which 200 digital prints on canvas were produced. I also have the original certificate stating this is number 42 of the 200. The photo’s attached show the piece in its entirety, then a couple of close up to show the detailed work and examples of the signatures. This example is offered unframed to assist in shipping, and would make a wonderful piece for a rugby memorabilia collector, or sporting/ corporate office suite setting. Notes: Scratchboard or scraperboard refers to both a medium, and an illustrative technique using sharp knives and tools for etching into a thin layer of white China clay that is coated with black India ink.. There is also foil paper covered with black ink that, when scratched, exposes the shiny surface beneath. Scratchboard can be used to yield highly detailed, precise and evenly textured artwork. Scratchboard is unique and produces dramatic imagery unlike any other medium.

Art work : 22.5cm x 30cm With Frame: Not framed Pen-y-Gwryd is a mountain pass at the head of two rivers in 'Gwynedd, Wales. Postage: R John Brunsdon was born in and studied at the Royal College of Art from to . He was head of the printmaking department at St.Albans College of Art for sixteen years and now lives near Diss on the Suffolk/Norfolk border where he has his own print workshop. At his printing studio all of John's work is individually hand etched, inked, coloured and printed. He takes delight in the texture and decorative qualities of etched marks and the sweeping shapes of broad colour which fuse into timeless images.
