VERY RARE LABRODON FOSSILS COLLECTORS PIECES IN SOUTH AFRICA
RARE LABRODON FOSSIL - EARRINGS - PENDANT - Collectors Pieces They are best relegated to the extinct genus "LABRODON". These beautiful objects are derived from the oldest marine bed. This bed is considered Early Pliocene (4my) in age on the basis of associated deposits, fossils in it may be older (Late Miocene) Most of this bed has been destroyed by later sea-levels highs - explaining the reason why fossils from it are occasionally found in much younger deposits. The bed is also diamond - iferous but naturally the "LABRODON" are more rare than the Diamonds. The grinding plates have been petrified by the action of phosphate rich seawater.
