Piet Swanepoel, the author of these two studies, was transferred from the Police to work for BOSS and its successor agencies from 1969 to 1984. When the BOSS files were opened after 1994 it turned out that Piet Swanepoel, of the Special Branch, had been given the task of keeping an index on all contributors to the The New African, a banned publication at the time. The opening of the files revealed also all Special Branch and BOSS papers which had been sent to Vorster as Minister of Justice. This is Piet Swanepoel's account on these banned publications.
