He started his career with Championship side Cardiff, where he spent six years. He helped the club to the FA Cup final in and to the Championship play-off final in . In he moved to Scottish Premier League club Celtic on a free transfer. He won the Scottish Cup in his first season with the club in and the Scottish Premier League title in his second season with the club in . He has played for Wales at under-17, under-19 and under-21 levels, before making his full debut in . Celtic Out of contract at the end of the season, Ledley entered into talks with several clubs, including Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion and AS Roma, before eventually joining Scottish Premier League side Celtic on a four year contract on 12 July . He made his competitive debut for the club on 28 July in a 3-0 defeat to Braga in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, before making his SPL debut two weeks later in a 1-0 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
