SNAKE WHIP PARACORD 1.22 METER / 4 FEET IN SOUTH AFRICA

“ Perfection is not attainable. But if you chase perfection, you can catch excellence”…. My motto There are basically 3 kinds of whips. The snake-whip, the bull-whip and the cow-whip. Following are just some short descriptions of these whips: The snake whip can be described as not having any hard or stiff handle in it. Easy to carry around and rolled up to fit in a small pocket, depending on it's length. Very flexible whip. The bull whip has a stiff handle inside the core of the whip, usually about 12in/30cm long. Though more bulky then a snake-whip and not as easy to conceal, one of the advantages are that it is more accurate because of the stiff handle, when hitting targets for example. The cow/stock whip can be described as a whip, attached to a wooden handle. This handle could be any length from around 16in/40cm up. These whips were used for herding cows, horse buggies, driving ox wagons, etc. On the subject, just a quick note: The whip was never used to hit the animals directly. It was cracked up into the air, or over the animal's heads. Traditionally whips are/were made from leather strips. Every nylon whip I produce is soaked completely in paraffin wax until no bubbles appear anymore, taken out and hung to dry. Therefore also waterproof as an extra measure. Choosing your whip: This is usually a personal preference, but here are some pointers for you...First determine what you want to use it for. In most cases the bull whip is the whip to go for. But if you want to be able to also use it on your hiking adventures and be able to pack small, then go for a 4 feet/1.22m snake whip. It is more then good for a backpacker for example, or home use. When it comes to size I would suggest no larger then 6 feet/2meters for a lady. For men I would suggest the same, but no longer then 8 feet/2.5 meter. You can go longer but it also gets unnecessarily more expensive. The average of 6 to 7 feet/2 to 2.3 meters is very versatile and more then adequate. The number of strands used in the plating, also contribute to the weight of your whip. Up to a 6'/2m whip, I usually will do a 12 plate. I also do a 16 plate from a 6'/2m whip upwards. All smaller whips I do with a 12 plate. Then you also have a variety of colors and patters to choose from. This is not set in stone, but only to give you some guidelines on helping you choose a whip.
