ROYAL NAVY COMMISSION [1942] IN SOUTH AFRICA

Signed by Admiral of the Fleet   Sir John Cunningham  GCB,   Commander-in-Chief of the  Mediterranean Fleet  with responsibility for the Anzio  landings    and the allied landings in  the south of France  during WWII..  Admiral   Sir William ‘Jock‘ Whitworth  KCB DSO,  Second Sea Lord a nd commander of the Battle Cruiser Squadron [1939].  He led the Royal Navy to victory at the second  Battle of Narvik off Norway in 1940.   Sir J Sidney Barnes, KBE, CB, secretary to the Admirality.
